what? he didn't approve of you looking at naked women...oh my.

These were not Playboy magazines. They were hardcore porn.

No, he didn't approve of his 9-10 year old son looking at porn.

for me, its the simple thing of not having to call the house phone...either to talk to one of your friends or the girl you are chasing.

My six year old son has been wanting to use my phone to call his friends lately and I was trying to explain that to him.

It was always so nerve wracking calling a girl and hoping her mom or dad didn’t answer. Good times.

Just off the top of my head....

1. Having 3 channels on TV to choose from.
2. Knowing if you miss an episode of a TV show you won’t have a chance of see it again until summer rerun season.
3. Having to sit in the floor next to the phone because that’s as far as the phone chord will go.
4. The joy of Saturday morning cartoons.
5. Living with the very real possibility civilization as we know it will be obliterated in nuclear hellfire at any given moment.
6. Going to the video store on a Friday night with your friends to get movies.
7. Cruising around town, hanging out in parking lots while trying to figure out where the party will be that night.
8. The thrill of seeing the new Sears & Roebuck catalog come in the mail.
9. Going to school with a pocket knife in their pocket and nobody caring.
10. The record store or music isle being the only option if you wanted to buy an album.

You seem really well adjusted. I’m sure your father’s violent beatings of you had no impact.

Freedom.

In second grade I started riding my bike to school with my brother, who was in kindergarten, on my pegs.

By fifth grade, we pretty much had the freedom to run the city on our bikes as long as we were back before dark.

In high school, we could drink and frick around without having to worry about our indiscretions being posted online. If we got picked up by a cop, he’d call your parents or drive you home and let them sort it out.

My young boys will have none of that freedom.

Not only did we have three channels, to get one of them you’d have to go outside and turn the antenna.

kids these days don't have that stress-free time period between report cards when mom and dad would be in the dark on how much the kid has been slacking off.

We had our Mammaw visiting us once. I brought home my report card when she was visting.

My Daddy responded "Boy, you better be lucky your Mammaw is here, or I'd have a belt upside your arse right about now."

True. I’ll bet most kids today can’t comprehend the fact that at a given point each night most TV stations went off the air.

I didn't get violent beatings. I got regular arse whippings like all kids got back then.

You seem like a real punk little bitch. I'm sure Mommy and her cuck that you called Daddy made sure you knew. "Nothing is your fault, Sweetie."

Those signoff videos were some of the most 'Murica!' shite ever. A freedom boner every night.

12 records for a dime.

You taped that dime to a postcard and mailed it to Columbia House.

Nice list, Darth. Spent many a Friday-Saturday night doing just this. Usually at Hoppers, Florida Blvd.
