I think Harry’s name spitting from the flames out of the goblet of fire was enough of a red flag to signal there was something nefarious and by design in play, so it’s not as if BC Jr could have overtly started to make moves like you’re suggesting or even to act suspicious enough drawing Dumbledore’s attention. Turning the cup itself into a port key made a lot of sense in my opinion because “Mad Eye” seemingly acting with good intentions in helping Harry along the way by ensuring he’d be the one to touch the cup was better writing because it made the twist later revealed all the better. And, I think she’s having to constantly rewrite the HP universe because the Woke culture demands it.
