He might be a WR/S project more than a corner for LSU

could very well end up with both Dwight and Lorando in this class. Dont know in what order the staff has them ranked but like someone already said, it wasnt a cb for cb swap. It was to make room for guys like Dumerville, Webb, Burch, and those types.

I'm sure that prospect flipped (processed) on us. Oregon was promised that Burch, Burton, Jarrett and Evans would sign along with Jackson. I believe the last spot was for McKinney. Corner or safety isn't a position of NEED seeing that we signed 5 DBs last year and also the #1 corner in this class and one of the top safety in the in the country this year.

I know at one time DM was the player everyone wanted and there were a lot of questions whether Burns was a take. Things obviously changed.

Last season the staff was much higher on Flott than a higher ranked local kid (forgot name).

Maybe they like DM better or maybe we just gambled and lost on Burns in the melee of trying to grab some big name guys, IDK.

One thing I do have confidence in is the coaches' ability to ID DB talent.

We basically told Burns and L Johnson to look around after being committed to us. If Dwight commits today, as a cornerback prospect is he better than these 2?

That's not how I took, or saw, things.

It was my understanding that LSU was looking at Burns as more of a Safety and he wanted in as a Corner. And if/when he was asked to wait, that was that and he moved on. As for Johnson, is he not still committed, just waiting till February as he has classwork to do? Am I wrong here?

Ricks is a Corner. Johnson is a Corner. Burns is a Safety who wants to play Corner. McGlothern is an athlete who can play Corner or WR.

It wasn’t a Major for Dwight trade, like others mentioned they were focusing on higher rated players at other positions and numbers were tight.

Also, for people who wonder if Dwight is good enough to be a take, CB is currently a young and talented group. You have 5 CBs all FR or SO next year and all very good. Dwight doesn’t have to play right away.

Johnson is on hold because of grades not because we think he doesn't have ability as a DB.

I think Dwight is good and athletic corner with nice size. Maybe not our first option but that kid had a down year and was a projected to be a 5* at one point. Obviously stars mean nothing but if he comes and develops well here having him across from Ricks 2 6ft + CBs once Stingley is gone is a positive!

Dwight is better than lorando. He can cover better than that tx kid can and he taller so he would be a better get than Lorando. The final 6 spots will it 2 offensive players and 3 or 4 defensive?

And how many did we sign the year before???

Just 1, and he’s no longer even on the team.

You need to sign a BALANCED class every year or this is how you get behind.

You are? How about this? Corey Raymond and Ed Orgeron think it’s the right decision. Do you believe you know more than them?

Dwight is a superior CB than the other 2. Great pick up for us.

They literally were creating room for 4 5 stars ( Burch, Evans, and the two WR) who didn’t come to fruition. You have to make room for players like that - if they flip on you at the last minute, that sucks, but you have to take that chance. It wasn’t a CB for CB trade.

They've been in the game way too long to let something like this happen to them. You can't miss trad that many kids this poorly.

All in all though, we'll be fine. The staff's not infallible, but this is still a great class.
