Would Star Wars have been better if they had adapted some of the books

that came out post ROJ. These books were in large part deemed non-canon. And to be honest some of these books were
and some of them were
.. But there were some good ideas and some really great concepts that would have eliminated many off the messes of the last three films. For example
1). Han and Leia have three kids- twins Jaina and Jacen and another son Anakin. Luke marries a force wielding won and has a son named Ben. The post ROJ conflict revolves around this family dynamic. And this would eliminate the Mary Sue-ness of Rey.
2) The Republic becomes more and more like the Empire as the Galaxy is invaded by forces from a different galaxy. Turns out that the Sith foresaw this and was Palpatine's rationale for establishing the Empire. These forces eliminate the need for the First/Final Order.
3). Darth Plagueis is still alive BTS and he is manipulating events and is also perhaps the father of Anakin. Yaaaayyy! No midichlorians.
I'm not all that familiar with books. Maybe others are and can point out additional plots that should have adapted. Also let's try to keep this thread as devoid of SJWs hurt my feelings/but muh SJW feelings responses as possible.

Probably.
Mara Jade is a phenomenal character that they erased.
Luke recognizes the faults of the Jedi order and attempts to change to a more realistic model.
Jaina and Jacen are much more interesting characters than Kylo Ren or Rey.
Leia was legit trained in the force by Luke.
The Yuzhan Vong could go wrong, but who knows?

I still think a Thrawn post-RoTJ movie would have been amazing as an intro to the new Sequel trilogy. Have it be a one-off that ends with a fight over Jakku...then when 20 years or so pass after and we see a girl on Jakku going through imperial wreckage, we have a connection to it.
...and the fact that Thrawn was the best Star Wars EU character by far to me.

I would say they should have done Sequel trilogy first instead of the Prequel. Then thrown as much money as possible at Han Solo to get him for at least 2 movies.
Regardless of then or now, the sequel trilogy should have been based around.. Luke trying to reform a Jedi Temple/Order with apprentices (a focus on the Luke/Mara's & Han/Leia's children) Thrawn, an Emperor Clone, and the Suncrusher super weapon.

This. If the original idea was to have a strong female as co-lead and make it believable there you go.

No Mary Poppins!

They showed this in Rise of Skywalker, but it was only a quick scene. So, Luke training Leia was implied, but I understand wanting to see more of it or revealing it earlier in the new trilogy.

Any of the series of books written by Zahn would have been much better. Characters dealt with new Republic problems and did not remain the same for 30 years in rebel alliance trope. Nobody was drinking green milk from the tap in those or living in hiding.

Thrawn isn’t an evil white guy, not sure how he would fit in Kathleen’s Star Wars

An adaptation of Grand Admiral Thrawn Heir to the Empire would’ve been a very good starting movie or trilogy itself.
Really could’ve just had the Empire still existing in a very fractured and lawless galaxy. No need for the “First Order” at all.
ETA: I see I’m not the only one of this opinion

The first order is a terrible name. I’m pretty sure they had an hour long meeting and decided that was the name towards the end of it with little to no discussion

Most of the books are churned out run of the mill texts that serve only the purpose to keep telling rehashed stories.
Then there are those gems that certainly deserved to be considered. The original Thrawn trilogy is pure gold. It had a compelling antagonist, great supporting cast and tech that was both believable and powerful without being over the top. Other books offered Sun Destroyers that would wipe out entire solar systems
. That's when things just get a bit out of hand.

I don't think the torpedo with the ability to destroy a solar system by making a star go supernova is a bad idea, since there are only a dozen or so torpedos in this ship... however the armor that can survive a direct blast from a Death Star prototype is too much.
I would think the best direction for the storyline would be trying to prevent the ship and/or the torpedoes from falling into Imperial hands as a promising direction

It's honestly more boggling that they tried to make Dark Empire without it being Dark Empire and just completely failed at it.

It looks like they hashed out everything in a 1 hour meeting. Chris Nolan famously said he got the outline for the Dark Knight trilogy after reviewing The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Year 1, and Knightfall. But it looks like JJ Abrams and company didn't really bother with even reading the essential backstory for the films they were trying to create.

Maybe. While some of the books are amazing, like the Thrawn and Jedi Academy trilogies; there were some turds like Truce at Bakura and the Dark Nest trilogy.

Yeah let’s go ahead and leave that shite fest in Legends. I used to be a NJO series apologist but not anymore
