Recruiting Class Seems Loaded with OL/DL and LBs

We needed to replenish the DL and OLBs so it appears we did just that.
To me that’s the most important bc the talented bigs are just hard to find and it seems we pulled a bunch of them.

I don't disagree. But did LSU "process" Lee from Live Oak in order to have room for higher rated players who ultimately didn't sign? I fully understand that tough decisions had to be made when numbers are limited and you were confident you were going to land some really big fish. But I never liked shedding a highly rated DT to make that work. I was always more comfortable with cutting a DB or WR if necessary.
That's really my only "complaint" about the class. Even counting this season, LSU hasn't had a dominant defensive line in quite a while (at least since 2012). Now, hopefully this class will help change that, but IMO you can never have too many good linemen and they are much harder to find than WR's

After last year’s class, D line was the absolute greatest position of need for this class, and it’s not even close. It won’t get you a #1 rated class by beefing up the lines (unless there are a few like Chase Young or Derrick Brown in play), but this year that’s exactly what was needed. The only one I’m even a little upset about was losing Lee to Florida.

I think Boutte, Moore and Gilbert suggest this is a strong skill class. Everyone just wigged out over Rakim and Burton.
Still a phenomenal three-player haul and possibly more.
-this is all in a “hey you’re cool” tone. I’m tired of all the guys biting each other’s heads off over a comment in a recruiting board.
ETA. Gilbert is still the pull that has us all excited. .

This current OL class is not good by any measure and even worse when compared to some of our competition.

Lee really isn't that highly rated. 31st rated DT in the country by 247. Maybe the staff had him rated about like 247 had him and not like some of the posters on here seem to have him rated. Why not more out cry over Patrick Jenkins? he was committed to LSU and is from Louisiana and is the 25th rated DT according to 247.

Not to mention Xavier Hill was a long time Bama commit and Martinez is very underrated. Everyone also seems to forget about Kardell. Having the Oline excel this year under Cregg will only help moving forward.

and McKinnley Jackson is still in play also

it's a pretty good OL class, but IMO, next year we need a bigger haul on the OL. Also Ty'kieast Crawford, the OT from Texas, hasn't signed with anyone yet, so maybe we get one more.

Of the 4, Dumerville is the star and that’s the whole reason why I am down on this OL class. Only one guy is rated better than 3 star. Dumerville is a 4 star. Great but he cannot play every position.
The other 3 guys are 3 star guys. That is not good for an LSU OL competing with the level of competition that we compete with. Look at what tamu and georgia got on OL.
I blame the in state and regional offerings but there are better guys within 250 miles that could have been ours.
Hiding your head in the sand doesn’t make it better.

How was Cushenberry rated? Wasn't he a 3 star prospect? We have had many good players on both sides of the ball that were a 3 star as recruits. Sometimes its better to trust the judgement of a coach who has watched a prospect develop for a few years than to accept the opinion of a recruiting service.
