Did we really “process” Major Burns?

Ed Orgeron press conference 12/18
Towards the end of the press conference, Coach O said we need another safety and cornerback. Why would we be targeting another CB if we processed Major Burns. There are no other CB prospects even close to Burns still available. Is it possible that Major Burns left and went to UGA on his own?

I know some “Insiders” on here say he was processed, but reading the tea leaves directly from the horses mouth is making me think otherwise.

I bet we never hear Major Burn's name again. He wasn't that special imo

Could be a lot of things.

Staff maybe viewed Burns as strictly an outside corner, where he'd be behind Flott, Jones, Ward, Ricks and Stingley next year.

Maybe the staff would prefer to find more of a nickel type.

Need a corner back or two and a running back.

There's a kid named Lorando Johnson who's a good unsigned nickel

I’m close with his HS coach. We told him he wouldn’t get a LOI in December and we did it a week out from ESD. Kid is a stud, we will end up regretting this one. He just made 17, he’s a baby. He will definitely grow into that 6’2” 176lb frame! And he’s a thumper. Would’ve been an ideal safety in a couple years...

I read a rumor - probably on this board -that Burns was asked to until February to sign. He didn’t want to wait so he opened up his recruitment

Then maybe he shouldn't have told our staff he didn't want to play there?

Definitely a dumb move by the coaching staff that will come back and bite them in the arse. Burns will be a stud for UGA just like he would have been for LSU.

Hopefully O learned a lesson and won’t tell local guys to gtfo so he can go chase national prospects he doesn’t land

Don't understand it either.

We should have never let him or Jalen Lee go. I think they are both going to be very good football players.

At this point, I wouldn't mind us just regrouping a bit in the state and trying to swing Van Pran (obviously) but also Clayton and Joel Williams.

We always have posters fussing because they say recruits and their families read the boards. Maybe, just maybe, Burns read about all the silent commitments from the "insiders" so he bolted on his own.

Yes, he was told to look elsewhere. His 247 write up when he committed to UGA proves it.

He wasn't being recruited as a safety. So I'll ask again, if he came here as a corner, who would he play over?

He wouldn’t play over Ricks, Stingley, or Flott in nickel, and would have to beat out Raydar and Ward for the dime spot. I doubt he would do that.
