Tennys just made the Auckland draw when Medvedev withdrew. Good spot for him to win a tourney if he goes all out.
Daniil passed Thiem in points and got the 4 seed for AO.
ETA: Rafa down a set and a break to the wee Belgian.
ETA2: Rafa lost
ETA3: Kyrgios pulls a Kyrgios and loses in straights to RBA. This match is why "Don't bet against RBA" and "Don't take Kyrgios as a favorite" exist.
Looks like a Spain/Serbia final unless Rafa goes down again.

This is way early, but I'm seriously considering a trip to the US Open this year. Anyone been? Have any tips?

Two years ago, I went over Labor Day weekend. I would do what you can to at least get tickets for Ashe (even if they are bad seats) or Armstrong so you are guaranteed to see some tennis, even if it rains all day. I think the action around the grounds really dwindles after Labor Day. So, if you want to see a lot of action around the grounds, I would go earlier in the tournament. But, if you want to avoid crowds, go later in the tournament.

Thanks. Yeah, I had read that it is a good idea to get reserved seats in case of bad weather.
Did you go to day or night sessions (or both)? I'm thinking one of each on different days. Seems like you can see a lot more action during the day, but I've heard the atmosphere at night it's the best in tennis.

Absolutely. We did Saturday day on Armstrong and both sessions on Sunday at Ashe. But, both sessions in one day is just too much. You get burned out.

They might as well get some points since AO might be postponed or cancelled.

Been twice. Great experiences both time.
Tips in what regard? I think it's just fun to explore. When I was 17 I snuck into the player's lounge. That was fun. You should do that.

Tips as far as which sessions to attend, which type of tickets people think are the best values, which courts are the most fun, etc. There is a lot more to choose from than just buying a ticket and going to, for example, a football game.
I'd love to see Fed if possible, but I know it won't be known when and where he will play until a day or two beforehand.
I'll be folding it into a trip to the city with someone who is only a very casual tennis fan, so I think I may try to get tickets in advance for one day session (with a seat at ashe if it rains), and then try to scalp a ticket for when Fed plays.

Went for the first 2 rounds in 2018. I liked going early in the tournament, wasn't as crowded as Labor Day weekend and there was a ton of tennis to watch. Just didn't have the big time match ups that the later rounds do. I got Ashe tickets like someone mentioned in case of rain, but 90% of the time I was walking around to all the different outer courts. It was a great experience and I plan to go back soon.

I stumbled onto some Barstool gambling show and everybody went nuts because one of the guys delved into tennis. This guy went with Delbonis and I think Lorenzo Sonego on his picks. Doesn't look like it worked out too well.
I was browsing at some Roland Garros stuff and see they are getting a roof and adding some lights on the top four courts so matches don't get suspended. Nice to see the Frenchies get modern.
I am just until clay court season. Maybe I'll start throwing cash when sports gaming comes here in a few months.

This sport is unbelievably hard to beat.

Anyone in this thread ever been to Roland Garros for the French Open?

I went in 2013. I think barry on the MSB went a year or two ago. I got lucky because my bro was online in the middle of the night when tickets went on sale and pulled Lenglen one day, then Chatrier the next. I loved that the venue is small and easy to get around, but I can understand why people say it was cramped and outdated. I think most of their renovations will be done this year, so it should be great now.

I kinda want to go one day and just hang out on the grounds, and then another day in Chatrier. It's a ways away from the center of Paris, correct?
