Isn’t it ironic that when LSU named Coach Ed Orgeron the head FB coach that we knew it was the right fit but everyone else said LSU was settling because others had turned down the position? NOW everyone wants that home grown type hire to turn their programs around. Like it just that easy..... Coach O is more than just a home grown HFC, he is a much deeper thinker and has the ability to recruit and hire assistants and they can develop players now.

I never thought of him to be a right fit for us initially.

I am ecstatically pleased to know I was wrong, and am not making those kind of calls. I think our team was very fortunate and a little lucky with the CEO hire, especially considering the discounted cost of bringing him in.

You are right it is kinda amusing to see other program trying to find their Coach O.

Coaches nowadays have to be CEOs moreso than XnO type of guys.

So who better to be a top-notch CEO than CEO?

I was completely wrong about Coach O. I wanted the HC with the resume

that said, he struck gold with Burrow and Brady. A QB that couldn't break the starting line up at OSU and a 30 year old passing coordinator. No one saw this coming...until the first game of the season. I was blown away immediately.

and Yes, I was furious about the E hire as our OC because we were promised the "best" available. No one else was calling E to run their offense, at the time we thought Lane Kiffin type OC hire..

I was wrong about the whole thing...

but I am worried about the Burrow factor moving forward.... he makes everyone look like a genius. How many more 3 and outs, or sacks will we have next year under Miles? We shall see

how often does a Burrow come through your program?

It's important we finish off the dream season...this is as good as it gets

Dabo kind of started the trend of CEO type head coaches. He wasn’t a coordinator and was hired from within the previous staff.

When Orgeron was hired everybody pointed at Dabo Swinney as the reason why the formula will work.

But it is kind of interesting how both LSU and Arkansas landed their coaches because everyone one else turned them down. Hopefully it works out well for the hogs but it seems unlikely that very AD out there can fall assbackwards into a gold mine every time by making knee jerk last minute decisions. But who knows.

The secret recipe ain't so secret anymore:

Find you a man that loves your institution, loves your town/city/Metroplex/state, & has no desire to go anywhere else, ever. For best results, cultivate future head coaches within the staff by way of former players, grad assistants, etc.

Funny how so many hated the hire when it was made, but now are on the O train.

If there is any adjective to fit Coach O, the word is 'unique'.
