Prey - Anyone play this?

Found Prey going through the games on XBOX gamepass and just started. I'm very early in and it feels exactly like Bioshock only with a futuristic setting. Searching everything, need power ups for abilities and upgrades for weapons. Is this what the game is? I loved Bioshock way back when I played it but I'm looking for something new and don't really feel like continuing on if that's all this game is.
Those that have played this have any advice?

One of my favorite games ever. Loved it.

I have never played Bioshock. I have played both of the System Shock games and Prey was a lot like them (System Shock if you dont know is a series which Bishock is supposed to be a spiritual successor to).
I really enjoyed Prey. You can tell a lot of love into it.
As far as advice, upgrade the shotgun (it will wreck phantoms if you do) and be absolutely sure you find the Q Beam and upgrade it, pretty much have to have it to kill some of the harder enemies. Also, you will get neuromods (as you may already be aware) that allow you to take typhon abilities. If you get one or two youre still safe from turrets, take too many and they will identify you as a typhon and try to kill you.
I did not do a typhon power build myself so I can not attest to how great the abilities are. Pretty much stuck to standard weapons.
Also, not gonna spoil but, be aware that your choices in regards to helping people on board the station in later parts of the game do affect the ending.
Other than that, have fun

I would say hold off on taking any typhon powers if you can.. it changes an aspect of the game later on that makes it more difficult for you. I ended up taking one ability I believe that I hardly used that made later parts harder than they needed to be.

Prey was awesome. A very underrated under appreciated gem.

So I'm assuming then, Yes, it is very much like Bioshock. Guess I'll continue on then since ya'll loved it so much.

Just finished a couple weeks ago and yea thats pretty much what it is. Lots and lots of going back and forth through the station, boring enemies and not much of a story. Setting is kinda cool though as is some of the typhon abilities, but I realized about 10 hours in that I wasnt enjoying myself at all. I powered through to the end with a maxed out shotgun and wrench. I know others loved it and while I/m a fan of Arkane's other work and love the Shock series style of games, this one just didnt do it for me.

i mean if you think shooters + powers = bioshock, then i suppose so. prey is much more of an immersive sim though, i.e. Deus Ex. so many ways to reach your goals
trust your baws from the dark souls thread. it's great

Pushing on through then. Having a hard time here in the early game.
I was stuck for quite awhile and could not figure out where to go and was damn close to quitting the game and then I realized a lot of the environment is climbable. Finally found the Propulsion system so I could go outside into space.
I use up almost all my ammo, Goo Gun, and Medkits anytime I run into a Phantom. Hopefully I find a better weapon soon.

you wouldn't believe how many shortcuts and shite there are with the gloo gun and the foam darts. you can skip so much shite once you learn

I got it for $15 early this year. Great find. I enjoyed the heck out of it.

Without giving away too much What can the foam darts be used for? i've tried shooting them as a distraction but not useful so far.

You need to use the foam darts to hit buttons to unlock doors.

Some locked doors can be opened if u can get the right angle on the buttons.

Eh, that one was okay. I liked the Arkane version better though.

Finally finished this. Thanks for urging to push through because this was a good game with a cool story. I guess I don't think outside the box anymore with video games because going online and reading stuff I had no idea all the different endings, character arcs, and how many things changed depending on when and how you completed objectives. And after revisiting this topic really wish I would have learned to use the foam darts like ya'll said. LOL
On to the next game.
On to the next game.
