Imagine the injustice of having to choose only two teams “worthy” of playing for the national championship this year...

Clemson left out? Weak schedule?

It has happened before. An undefeated AU team got left out because USC and OU looked like the sexier teams

Which system rewards better scheduling? If you only have to play one or two good teams and go undefeated, why would you schedule a good team?

That would be the story... but does anyone believe their fate should be decided by a poll rather than a chance to compete on the field? It’s not their fault a schedule made years in advance turned out to be weak.

Clemsons schedule is horrible but you can’t fault them for the ACC going through a decade of being a dumpster fire.

It would have been wild for last year's Champ to be left out after going undefeated.

The ACC is straight up dog crap. Even their good teams aren't that good, with exception of Clemson. They only have good records because the rest of the league is so laughably below average.

If it was a two team system no way defending champ is sitting at home.

To be fair USC and OU started the year
1 and 2 and went undefeated.

It would be LSU and Ohio State, without question.

Tell that to undefeated Ohio State and LSU. Clemson would have been left out last year. Strength of schedule was absolutely imperative in the BCS. Now it’s all about the “eye test.”

Yeah 4 is appropriate...but no one wants a bunch of SEC and big10 rematches at 8 teams.

The 4th team in is usually a tune up game for the #1 seed, but in case some badass undefeated monster comes in at 4, then the system is built for it.

I do think all Power 5 Champs and 1 Group of Five Champ deserve a bid to minimize political/off-field influence and to provide all of FBS something to play for, eliminating the potential for another UCF “national championship” claim scenario. Adding two at-large bids to create a field of 8, which provides independents access, shouldn’t be a stretch. Having a team or two too many some years is far better than having a team too few.

You can’t fault them, but doesn’t mean you have to reward them when other teams have done more on the field.

You can’t solely measure the talent of a team based on its schedule. It really isn’t their fault the ACC blows.

I dont think it would have played out like that.

Voters felt comfortable voting Clemson 3rd because they knew top 4 would make it.

Had it been a top 2 they would have never not put Clemson 1 all year IMO.
