No reason to schedule tough games for playoff committee

Heather Dinich even said that Utah is getting more respect from the committee based on how they are playing against their weaker schedule and their margin of victory in wins. I think that’s bullshite because they lost to USC and may get blown out against the first team they play with a pulse.
Very concerned this committee will drop us to #5 if we lose because they are so erratic with how they rank. It would be a travesty but I wouldn’t put it past them.

Agree. Beat Bama, Auburn and Florida each year along with the other cupcakes and you’ll make the playoff.

It depends who you are.
If you are a school with a pedigree like; Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, no, it really doesn’t pay you to schedule an overtly hard schedule.
With lesser teams, it could mater.

Ohio States getting credit for playing Cincinnati at home and we’re getting nothing for going on the road at Austin.
Committee is sending a clear message- play weaker opponents and beat the shite out of them.

Exactly right
People just don't understand how bad this is for the game

How about they’re fun as shite? I don’t know what I’d do if LSU played a schedule like Clemson’s every year. How could you enjoy that. It’s either win by 30+ every week or feel miserable. That’s how bad the teams they play are. It’d supposed to be fun and playing big teams you don’t normally play is fun.

Exactly. Which is a complete travesty and sham when you really think about it.
Essentially, certain teams get a "pedigree bonus" based on the history of their program. History should be an absolute non-factor when all that should be considered is what teams have done this season.
Yet another pitfall of these decisions being made by a committee of biased human beings.

ESPN is killing ESPN. Teams will continue to schedule according to what gets them into a playoff. As fans, we won’t see Top 20 matchups. For ESPN, they will have lower ratings during the season. Why play H&H with Texas? Makes no sense for either team.

Why are people just figuring this out in 2019?

Their bias toward other teams are very obvious no doubt.

I agree.
BUT... there's a difference between "tough games" and "cupcakes". You can't swing 180 degrees and replace tough with super-easy. You have to stay in the middle ground.
And there's this thing called insurance: if we had lost to UT would we have been at #4 with Bama and their 1 loss to us outside looking in? I think not. Every team not named Bama (and maybe UGA) needs a buffer.
If tOSU had lost to Wisky or another B1G team would they be in Bamas spot? I dunno. They may not need insurance. They might... that's a hypothetical we don't know. With Bama (and UGA) we've seen it before.

I know many people think we are already a playoff lock. But it think you are right. If we lose Saturday the top 4 will be:
OSU
Clemson
UGA
Utah/Oklahoma/Baylor
Will be all conference champs.
And honestly I don’t have a problem with it. It would really suck but the CCGs should be de facto playoff games.

Hahaha
Have you been in this board before or around LSU fans.
We tend to be miserable and bitch even after big wins.

There has always been that one team that gets blown out the first round that shouldnt of been in there
2015 - Florida State (lose by 39)
2016 - Michigan State (lose by 38) - and you can argue Oklahoma (lose by 20)
2017 - Ohio State (31)
2018 - Clemson (18) - Was held to 6 points
2019 - Notre Dame (27)
It happens every year and i believe Utah would be that team this year...well id hope it is

The CFP Committee is putting on display the politics of college football. "Eye test", "Traditional Power Team". "Deep Talented Team", "Best Coaches" all are used to justify the bias shown to a handful of teams. Arguing over which l loss team had a worse loss is shallow thinking.
The CFP is one step away from Pro Wrestling.

i love how when BCS was here there argument was that 3 and 4 are just as good as 1 and 2 that we should go to a playoff system...so everyone was ok with the top 4 teams then why bring in 13 ignorant people choose the top 4 teams and its been a controversy every since...its a power grab

There should not be a committee. It should be the BCS formula picking the top 4. Just use an unbiased formula to pick now and when they expand. It is a power grab.

This. BCS system was fine. Well, they actually could have weighted strength of schedule heavier, but i digress. The implementing of a committee was simply a way to stir up controversy to boost ratings.

We should schedule all FCS teams for the non-conference schedule. The season ticket holders will bitch about it, but "Just win, baby!" All that work to schedule/beat Texas is for absolutely NOTHING.
