The Dems know Trump did nothing close to bribery, or anything impeachable for that matter, but they will impeach him anyway.

Their goal is to get their low-information voters to show up and vote against Trump, because these voters are too ignorant to know any better.

The narrative will be, "how can you reelect someone so horrible that he had to be impeached for the crime of corruption he has committed." They will also say the Republican Senate let him get away with it.

All the Dems are trying to do here is METTLE IN THE 2020 ELECTION. They are doing exactly what they are falsely accusing Trump of doing!

There are a number of very bright posters on this site who feel this charade will never make it to the senate.

I want to agree with them but I can't. I still believe there is a 100% certainty Trump will be impeached and a senate trial will follow.

It makes zero sense that the dems would want this to make its way to the senate but the dems have not made much sense in more than a decade.

but what about the election next year? Does the GOP have another strong candidate that can take down Biden or Warren?

if ben carson would run, half of the dems would vote for him cause of his race. and, all of the republicans would vote for him. so.......he can't lose.

You need to learn what "impeaching" means. It doesn't mean the POTUS is removed from office.

That is up to Pelosi. IMO, impeachment would be the biggest political blunder in US history, if Dems were dumb enough to go that route.

OTOH, it sounds like you are asking about removal from office by the Senate.
There is no chance of that occurring.

If for no other reason, raw politics would prevent it even if Trump was guilty as hell . . . which is not remotely the case. We are seven months from party conventions. There is no time at this point to construct a POTUS campaign from scratch. Pence would be given the GOP nomination by default.

Several GOP Senators have Presidential ambitions and would not willingly cede those ambitions to Mike Pence.

The GOP will have to accept that Presidents shouldn't be allowed to conduct themselves in a corrupt way and will likely not defend it next time. It's not difficult.

There is nearly a 100% chance he will be impeached and a near zero chance he will be convicted in the Senate.

Another poster who doesn't understand difference between impeachment and conviction/removal in Senate.

Shameful.

Don't you mean if the Republicans are successful?

Or don't you know who runs the Senate?

Time to use force. Because apparently that's all Democrats understand.

They no longer understand democracy.

Trump would run again and win.
