Im planning a trip currently to go visit a friend of mine this season to do some duck and pheasant hunting in NJ but im debating on what I should do about my shotgun. I know the laws are fricking strict so I was gonna see if anyone has some insight on what needs to be do in order for me to be legal while hunting. Im flying into Philly and driving to NJ and staying in NJ for 4 days.

UPDATE

I got back from NJ late last night and I will be the first to say that it was a blast up there. It was pretty rough conditions which limited us on our hunting opportunities but I was still able to kill my first black duck and brant. We hunted a public blind in a public marsh that was accessible by foot for all three days we hunted. It reminded me alot of our marshes down here with the exception that it was so cold that the floating marsh was so cold that it froze them and walking out there was like jumping iceberg to iceberg. The temps never broke 45 and the lowest was 18 with a 20 mph wind so even the saltwater tidal pon we were hunting was freezing up (you can see where we broke through ice in one of the pics). Diddnt kill a ton of birds, nor did we kill a great variety but it left a lot of room for improvement for next year

If someone could help me post pictures that would be greatly appreciated lol

How about borrowing a shotgun? Perhaps your friend has access to a NJ shotgun in their possession or through a friend. I don't know why you can't just pack yours in a lockable ATF approved gun case and transport with you. But not knowing NJ laws and perhaps understanding how strict these NE states are right now borrowing may be your best bet.

I've transported shotguns when flying to other states. It went pretty smoothly but not without hassle from the TSA agent when retuning home. And that was in North Dakota. Make sure you have two locks.

honestly never have thought about hunting/outdoors when someone mentions New Jersey.

But I guess by now I should realize that even big cities don't take up THAT much real estate.

Not sure on what to do about the gun but you should post some pictures when you get back.
