Need the OB's help: Duck hunting in NJ- UPDATED w/ pics

Im planning a trip currently to go visit a friend of mine this season to do some duck and pheasant hunting in NJ but im debating on what I should do about my shotgun. I know the laws are fricking strict so I was gonna see if anyone has some insight on what needs to be do in order for me to be legal while hunting. Im flying into Philly and driving to NJ and staying in NJ for 4 days.
UPDATE
I got back from NJ late last night and I will be the first to say that it was a blast up there. It was pretty rough conditions which limited us on our hunting opportunities but I was still able to kill my first black duck and brant. We hunted a public blind in a public marsh that was accessible by foot for all three days we hunted. It reminded me alot of our marshes down here with the exception that it was so cold that the floating marsh was so cold that it froze them and walking out there was like jumping iceberg to iceberg. The temps never broke 45 and the lowest was 18 with a 20 mph wind so even the saltwater tidal pon we were hunting was freezing up (you can see where we broke through ice in one of the pics). Diddnt kill a ton of birds, nor did we kill a great variety but it left a lot of room for improvement for next year
If someone could help me post pictures that would be greatly appreciated lol

How about borrowing a shotgun? Perhaps your friend has access to a NJ shotgun in their possession or through a friend. I don't know why you can't just pack yours in a lockable ATF approved gun case and transport with you. But not knowing NJ laws and perhaps understanding how strict these NE states are right now borrowing may be your best bet.
I've transported shotguns when flying to other states. It went pretty smoothly but not without hassle from the TSA agent when retuning home. And that was in North Dakota. Make sure you have two locks.

honestly never have thought about hunting/outdoors when someone mentions New Jersey.
But I guess by now I should realize that even big cities don't take up THAT much real estate.

Ive done it for a few states too as well as international and I know it can be hit or miss with the TSA agents. I wouldnt mind borrowing one but apparently Ive heard stories ab ppl up there that if you get checked and youre using someone elses gun without them present, they can confiscate the gun and I would hate to do that
ETA: Its the number one state for black ducks and has awesome sea duck hunting... Im pretty close to killing all 41 North American waterfowl and I could scratch a few off my list up there.

Sounds like a blast! Please come back after the hunt and let us know how you did. Good luck!,

Are you mounting every species? That’s pretty cool, not many people can say that they have done that.

Was up there a few years ago in January near Newark. Can’t tell you how many mallards and black ducks we saw There was flooded timber on the side of the roads stacked full of them Deer were everywhere as well

Why don't you call their fish and game department and get the scoop from the horses mouth so to speak. They can tell you if they will confiscate a borrowed gun. Imagine a grandpa taking his 15 year old grandkid from Texas out to hunt and then getting his gun confiscated? I don't know if I buy this.

Not sure on what to do about the gun but you should post some pictures when you get back.

I wish I was mounting them but thats just gonna be too much money lol. I have 18 left to go (19 if you count the mexican mallard and 20 if you count the egyptian goose) and plan on having the chance to kill a: Black duck, black scoter, whitewinged scoter, surf scoter, old squaw, brant, red brested merganser, common merganser, and maybe a common eider if they come down. Ill be going to argentina in August so hopefully I can get my cinnamon teal there.
Also, this is the first year im actively going for my goal of killing some species of waterfowl in all 49 states and knocking out Arkansas and NJ this season.
As far as the original question, im probably going to call their game wardens and figure it out from there. better be safe than sorry
