Yesterday's game reminded me of sitting in the stadium in 2011 for a first half dismantling of Auburn. I thought it would be iteresting to look at what are probably the two most dominant LSU teams ever.
Turnover Margin
2011 - +20 (insane number)
2019 - +6
Total Offense
2011 - 5.71 yds/play
2019 - 7.90 yds/play (whoa)
Total Defense
2011 - 4.08 yds/play (crazy)
2019 - 5.11 yds/play
Redzone scoring
2011 - 93.44%
2019 - 96.72%
Opponent 3rd Down
2011 - 33.97% (good)
2019 - 30.68% (very good)
LSU Third Down
2011 - 44.71% (good)
2019 - 50.00% (incredible)
These are the stats that consistently lead to winning. 2011 was a team that was built heavily on turnovers and tackles for loss and creating havoc on the defensive side of the ball. 2019's offense is remarkably better than 2011 and has an amazing redzone and 3rd down offense.
I do find it interesting that if we are talking yds/play 2019 is much better overall and also has a better third down and redzone defense.

That turnover margin had to be some kind of record. Thanks Tyrann Mathieu.

This LSU offense would put up 45 points vs the Bama 2011 defense. Without a doubt.

Don’t forget to talk about our schedule in 2011 and the multitude of ranked teams we faced and destroyed them all. But in 2019, we beat 4 top ten teams in the regular season, a feat that’s tough to find when was the last team to do it
