Every element of LSU football has been elevated nationally, so is Joe Burrow the greatest Tiger ever? Billy Cannon, Pistol Pete, Shaq, Ben McDonald, hard to name an LSU athlete that had a greater impact on the LSU brand nationally, LSU fans are saying Joe’s the greatest Tiger ever

That will only be determined years down the road when his legacy is revealed in recruiting classes, and on field performance

I will say this, I dont think the brand has ever been as strong nationally as it is now. LSU/Bama being the most watched regular season game in 8 years, LSU/Texas was up there. Plays from both games were also on "You Got Mossed" the next day for the NFL crowd. We got LSU players as analysts on ESPN jumping for joy as well as Randy Moss dancing around for us.

Back in 2003-2007 we were up there but USC and even Ohio Stste had a lot more media love than we seemed to get back then. Now it seems like we're America's team, probably a lot to do with the Bama game and Buckeye fans rooting for Burrow but hey I'll take it.

He’s been fantastic and elevated the program beyond our wildest dreams. But not even close.

Billy Cannon, Pistol Pete, Shaq

Are all above him on the GOAT list

What's crazy to me is that we go from having the worst history of QB's and offense in the country for 12 years. Now we have a heisman front runner and likely winner.

Greatest Tiger ever is still up for debate, but he's on the short list, including those you mentioned.

As far as brand ambassador, I'd say it's Shaq, and it's not even close. Shaq is one of the most famous and recognizable athletes of all-time, and he is constantly repping LSU.

Joe's likely going to have a tremendous impact on reshaping the narrative around LSU football, allowing recruits, fans and pundits to view LSU in a different light - other than just a run-heavy/defensive minded NFL factory - but the long term results of that are yet to be seen.

Elite HS QBs want to win the Heisman. If think they can get one going to LSU, they will come.

Burrow winning it would cement that thought in young recruits

He could surpass Cannon in football with a Heisman and NC in football, but he’s not replacing the Pistol or Shaq.

If JB9 wins the Heisman AND leads LSU to a national championship, he will go down as the GOAT LSU Tiger. It is that simple.

I'm with you on the national branding of LSU at this time and your list of great athletes, including Joe Burrow. However, none of this and I mean none of this would be possible if Orgeron was not the head coach (a guy who loves Louisiana deeply). He brought in both Joe B's, he learned from others, he learned from his mistakes, and is keeping his hand off the stove. Kudos to the all the players and coaches. #CoachEauxneverforget

It will depend on his pro career.

Billy Cannon, Pistol Pete, Shaq, Ben McDonald

All had stellar pro careers in addition to staring at LSU

I think it's like a parent being asked which child is the favorite...there are so many great Tigers that have come before him. I definitely think that the argument can be made that Joe Burrow coming here has impacted and elevated LSU football more than anyone else ever has. And that's said with the utmost respect for those greats before him.

Billy Cannon won a Heisman ('59) and a National Championship ('58) but not in the same season.

Pistol Pete changed the game and set NCAA scoring records that will never be broken. But never won an SEC Championship.

Shaq was a freak of nature and a great statesman and personality for LSU but never made it to the second weekend of March Madness.

Ben McDonald was a great pitcher who got things started with LSU baseball. Great Ambassador for LSU and #1 draft pick but no National Titles.

Joe Burrow may win the Heisman and SEC Championship and National Championship in one season and will hold multiple LSU/SEC/NCAA records and is a great statesman and personality and could be the #1 Draft Pick. IF he checks all of those boxes, He will be the greatest LSU athlete of all time.
