Tomorrow will be only the 2nd time LSU’s clinched the West before the final week

Tomorrow will be the 6th time LSU’s finished 1st in the West but only the second time (2007) they’ll win the West before the last week of the season.

The last week of 2011 was
#1 7-0 LSU
#2 6-1 Alabama
#3 6-1 Arkansas
An Arkansas win over LSU and who knows what would have happened. The BCS standings would have decided it. And LSU likely doesn't stay #1 with a loss.

Wow forgot how big of a game that 2011 Arkansas game was. We really went through the gauntlet that year.

Makes it all the more impressive we came out and blew their doors off. Arkansas was a solid squad that season but LSU, along with Bama, was a cut above anyone else in the country.

Was that the Arkansas game when Petrino yelled “frick you mother fricker” across the field to Les Miles? That was probably my favorite postgame head coach handshake of all time

One of those losses in 2007 was to an east opponent. So only one in west play.
