we are huge LSU fans making the trip from NY for the LSU and Texas A&M game. What is the tailgate situation like? It'll be our first game at Tiger Stadium so looking for recommendations. Thanks!!

Tailgating is campus wide, just walk up and introduce yourself people will want to talk to you simply because you don’t sound like us

Make sure you wear your chastity belt on your backside if you are a male. Just FYI.

Free lots near the baseball stadium (across from Nicholson Highway). Great to hear y’all are trekking that far. Be careful! Enjoy

Just get to campus wearing LSU gear and tell everyone you're from New York. You'll be showered with alcohol and fried food.

I'm curious to see the on-campus tailgating turnout as well. Traditionally, the game after Thanksgiving (either Friday or Saturday) has a lower tailgating turnout, but with the successful season and a high desire to beat Texas A&M soundly after last year's OT fiasco, there should be plenty of folks on campus eager to absorb the final home game of the regular season.

1. Traffic can be worse than you think, so I'd get to campus as early as possible. For a 6:00pm game, I'd suggest as early as 11am to noon. This will allow you to wander around campus, see a few tailgates, Mike the Tiger, the band marching down the hill, and get inside the stadium early enough to experience all the pregame festivities. Grabbing lunch at either Walk On's or Chimes is also a good option.

2. Incorporate something into your outfit to denote you're from out of town. Whether it's a college or pro team, LSU fans love when football fans from around the country travel just to experience an LSU game day.

3. It's a veteran move to BYOB. LSU fans will certainly feed you if you're polite, introduce yourself and strike up a conversation, but generosity only extends so far. Don't be a mooch and bring your own booze.

4. For this game especially, know the basics of the 7OT debacle from last year in College Station. A simple, "We got screwed by the refs" line will quickly endear you to other tailgaters.

How big is your group? How old are you? Some of that can play a factor in what you look for on a game day.

Chimes, on the edge of campus, might be a good starting point. Grab some lunch, there's a good rooftop bar, then begin moseying around the tailgate scene.

On the flipside of campus, you can always start at WalkOn's, then head into campus from the other side.

Definitely make your way to see Mike's cage, and this may just be me, but I always enjoy walking around the entirety of the outside of a stadium, especially one as big as Tiger Stadium, before a game when I travel to new places. I think it gives unique perspective and allows you to see maybe a neat statue or plague about the program.

Postgame, Fred's in Tigerland is always a fun place to check out, but at 25, Third Street in downtown would also be fun, depending on where you're staying.

We tailgate in the Hayfield Lot next to Alex Box stadium. Free parking and look under the tress for the blowup Tiger with the LSU flag. You are welcome to join us

Chicken really needs a "First time at LSU" page. This question comes up at least 50 times during the season.
