Since the talk of the board was that he didn’t put enough blame or wasn’t mad enough about the defense Saturday.

A lot of posters here thought he should have said something different to the media post game. Here’s his answer and if the people that are still around that were upset over O’s comments, or lack thereof l, I’m curious of your thoughts on his explanation.

quote:

Q. After the game, I think a lot of us were expecting you to be angry about the defensive performance. Right away you were talking about the positives. Why is it important to keep everything in perspective, weigh where you are?

quote:

ED ORGERON: I try to see the feeling of the football team. I knew they were a little disappointed. I think that would have just added fuel to the fire. I thought they needed to be picked up a little bit. To compliment them on a win, not take for granted winning. We've been on some teams, no matter whether they've not played so well, might not have played so well, had a hangover. I don't think we had a hangover. Played well in the first half. They made some plays. I wanted to give them confidence, how much I believe in them.

Treats them like his own sons. I'm sure he gives them due correction when and where the time is right. He's building character. Not brow beating it out of them in public.

I trust his judgment, and I think he knows the team better than I do. I learned that when you beat up on people sometimes it completely backfired. However that statement was in public, and I have to believe that tell the truth Monday was a very serious thing for all the players. I have to think the person who was most upset by the play had to be Arands.

I also think it was such a poor showing that their pride was crushed. I expect Arkansas to be a different game, and I expect the defense to shine.

I think it's fine right after the game.

Part of being a HC is reading the mood of the team. If they are beating themselves up, you build them up, correct the mistakes and move on. If they seem satisfied, break a boot off in their arse and get them re-focused.

He's not wrong.

Basically, celebrated winning. He didnt forget the defense didnt play well. I bet practice this week is going to suck for them.

It’s the same exact reason but from the opposite angle why in the post game presser after the Bama game he mentioned that there were a lot of things they did wrong and will need to correct.

After Bama he knew his team was going to be at an all time high and he wanted to bring it down a notch to help move on to the next one.
After Ole Miss he knew his team would be down on themselves and he wanted to bring them up to help move on to the next one.

They watched the film and will work to correct the mistakes as they do after every game.

There is an old saying:

I think Ed is right on. These kids were very embarrassed and disappointed in the result. There was no need to bash on em just to say he did.

As much as I bashed on his theme days. That is where tell the truth Monday comes to play. It is a day where you put your feelings aside, regardless if it was a huge win where you think you played great..or a disappointing performance. It makes the kid feel like it is just another part of the process, not Coach just having a bad day.

You know what is worse than playing bad and winning? Playing bad and losing.

I thought it was interesting compared to how he was in 2017 saying we don't have a kicker and other things.

I like this version of O more than that one.

What a coach tells the media is almost always different than what he tells the team. To pay 1 iota to this is wasting a brain cell.
They speak to the media because they have to. They speak to the team, because they get to.
Nothing here, LSu has Arkansas this week. No need to play that psychological card thru the media, you only get 2-3 of these all year.

Come Aggie week, everybody will be a POS. O really wants that one. Its Jimbo, the 7 million dollar man, who will finish 7-5. A million a win, lol.

People like to act like CEO is either blind, naive, or just stupid. It's more obvious every day that he is none of the above.

I'm not sure what some people want. Do you want him to publicly throw players under the bus? I know a certain coach from a certain team that does just that... "well, I trusted 'player x' make the smart choice but he just didn't do that". That is not a good look... I'll take Coach O's approach any day and trust that he makes the corrections behind the scenes.

I think this is the part people keep forgetting about.

I was honestly really impressed with how the team came out in what some were labeling a potential trap game (I didn’t believe that).

Clearly the staff had them prepared and ready, and the players were focused and executed.

Something happened in the second half that I don’t think is all that uncommon, and the game kind of got away from them on a few series.

I don’t think O bad mouthing them in the post game interview would have accomplished anything, and just don’t think this is a big deal.

Obviously they will address it in film study and practice, so I don’t see this as any kind of problem whatsoever.

I think you can be supportive in public but in private kick Dave Aranda's arse.

Then tear up his contract and rewrite it at half pay.

Were people really upset that he didn't shite on his players in a post game interview?

Those guys are well aware of their performance, and I'm sure O will coach them up, but that seems like an odd demand from fans.

It's not important that he rip his team in public. That is what meetings are for and that is what closed practices are for. Trashing players in public doesn't really accomplish much.

They're undefeated and ranked #1 in the country. He's earned the right to coach however in the frick he sees fit.

What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas. The goddamn fans don't need to know shite. All they are going to do is bitch anyway. If i have someone working for me and they need an arse chewing, to keep their respect the arse chewing will not take place in public.
