What a lie this is. Ghost Busters, Star Wars, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Terminator, Harley Quinn, etc.
I dont care about her take, she's just defending her movie. Thats understandable.
But your calling her a liar and you can only name 6 franchises, one of them is not a female action franchise and 4 of the other 5 have only been done once in that 17 year period. If thats all you got, you're helping her point if anything.

To be fair.
Star Wars got Rogue one and a whole trilogy about Rey.
Wonder Woman has 2 movies, 2 ensembles.
Captain Marvel has one movie, 1 ensemble and a hook to keep on in the franchise that isn't stopping.
Underworld got 3 or 4 movies before movies before action girls became girl power movie statements.
Terminator had a 2, 3(to a lesser action degree but still smart as hell), Genesys, and Dark Fate with females leads co-leads.
Harley Quinn was a big draw for Suicide Squad. Has BOP and SS2 in the pipe.
And if we start including TV shows we get way more female action leads and stories.
It's not like there's a dearth of female led media. It's just for the most part the audience doesn't receive it well by either not paying for it or not liking that they paid for it.
Which is why for all the franchises listed above there's a shitload of one offs that were either eh okay or flops.
ETA: And the first 2 Charlie's Angels were fun.

She said 1 or 2 in 17 years. I listed 6 in about three years . Banks is a lying sack and she is obviously "allowed" to make these movies just as we are allowed to not see them.

Well, if you’re going to have a flop, make sure your name is on it at least 4x. I’m proud of #CharliesAngels and happy it’s in the world.

Elizabeth Banks might be the hottest chick in the movie, which might be an issue

If she had put out a great film, no one would care that it’s a reboot of a reboot.
Should have been treated like the first Kingsman film. Rated-R

Someone doesn't come to the M/TV board, I see.

Well, now, the defensive clam is just plain wrong:
Wonder Woman
Captain Marvel
Lara Croft
The upcoming stand alone Black Widow movie
Ghostbusters - the all vagina edition (okay,
straddles the line between comedy and action)
Alien/Aliens etc.
Increasingly - Terminator
Star Wars since the prequels
Underworld
Resident Evil
Mad Max: Fury Road (*Hardy strong enough to make this one a push, but still)
Hunger Games
(and I'm sure I'm missing some)

I was kind of jump started into puberty by these gals.
I would have made sex on them.

It is not that she made a reboot with a female cast. It is Charlie's Angels after all.
It is not that men won't go to see a female lead in an action movie. Hell, Wonder Woman managed to save the craptacular DC movie universe.
It is people aren't going to line up to watch a movie that, from the trailers, looked like complete dog crap. Some have liked it, quite a few have not. Based on that a lot of folks are going to give it a pass.
The lesson isn't don't do a female lead movie, it is don't do a bad female lead movie. There have been plenty of crappy male lead superhero/action movies that the fans and audience have crapped on in the last decade.
First of all make a good movie. Male lead, female lead, adorable dog lead, or an animated rectum that speaks via flatulence lead... make a good movie and people will come to see it.

I just took one for the M/TV Board and saw this movie with Regal Unlimited. It's beyond bad. The worst movie I've seen since I moved to Nashville 4 years ago.

That Elizabeth Banks is in the Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect movies, both of which are wildly successful AND feature her, should be enough to have stopped this asinine statement from even being uttered by her.

Yeah, but everybody doesn’t think like you. And you’re allowed to make as many women action movies as you l’d like. But if they suck, then be a grown up and accept it.
