Am I alone in thinking Robert Redford is a sub par actor?

Watching Spy Game right now and he's terrible.

Man...
You are alone here.
You are alone here.

He was decent when he was younger .... but as he got older all of his movies were too SJWish and preachy.
He was great in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Electric Horseman, and the one with Faye Dunaway as well as The Sting.
Since those days he has fallen off big time.
Edited: Three Days of the Condor

I guess so. I just don't think he's that good.

I thought Spy Game was a good movie. No Academy Award performances, but entertaining.

Good movie. Poor acting by RR.

No you're not and i'm glad you brought it up.
Wooden, no charisma and no range.

I was thinking of some other movies he was really good in back in the day.
The Natural
Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here
Barefoot in the Park
Jeremiah Johnson
The Way We Were
The Great Waldo Pepper
Brubaker
Out of Africa
I mean add these to the ones I mentioned above and he had a great run. Far better than most.
I'm not sure if he ever won an Oscar though? I can't remember it if he did.
He had a good little run as a producer and director too. Matter of fact didn't he win an Oscar as Director for Ordinary People in the 80s?

He's a less talented Brad Pitt

Yes, he stole it from Scorsese for Raging Bull, but
I do absolutely love Quiz Show though.

Nope
Best performance I ever saw came very early in his career, the TV version of Iceman Cometh (1960)
He's pretty mediocre as Sundance. Imagine what Garner or Coburn (both were offered the role) could have done with the part.
ETA: Same with Warren Beatty

The Last Castle is one of my favorites.

He was great in the 1960s and 1970s. I honestly haven't seen very much of his work since.
Unwatchable. Film was terrible. I've never finished it.

Nah. You right. He was never a great actor. Some roles were more suited to what he brings to the table than others, but for the most part I think he’s just ok.

He is a very up and down actor. He was great in some flicks, like Jeremiah Johnson, and fairly wooden in others.
Obviously being Paul Newman's best friend opened a lot of doors for him in Hollywood and he's been a fairly middle of the road actor for decades. Give him the right part and the right director, like the aging Hydra agent in Winter Soldier, and he will do just fine.

Yeah pretty much, but that is a terrible cashing in movie

I can't say anything because I'm no robert redford even overhauled.

You can really see when he is phoning it in. His performance in The Last Castle is humiliating.

You are alone. At least you should be.
