WTF? Sometimes I like to be alone in public. Kind of feels like I am more free to interact with others than pay attention to the person with me.

I went to the movies by myself once.. It was during the day, not that full..

What I don't like is when I am eating alone and someone I know comes in and we talk and they just come sit with me then I have to engage when I just want to be in my own mind..

I’ve gone to the movies by myself a few times, and I always hate it. Half the fun is discussing the movie afterwards with the person you go with. Same thing for sporting events. It’s still kinda fun by yourself in a sea of strangers, but nowhere near as meaningful as sharing that experience with friends and/family. It just feels isolating and hollow. Like what’s the point of the experience if you can’t share it?
Eating alone in a restaurant is boring. I do so from time to time at lunch or while traveling, but it just feels empty. The whole process is geared towards creating space for conversation. Without someone to converse with, i don’t know. It’s like a waste of everyone’s time.
I go out by myself to bars and concerts all the time even if it’s not my preference. I do it to meet new people because it’s one of the few places where interactions between strangers are encouraged somewhat.
