Punishing tariffs to be rolled back according to reports today

The government is set to roll back at least some of the tariffs it has imposed on American importers and manufacturers.
This is part of the phase 1 trade deal. LINK
This is a good step forward.
I assume the December tariffs will not be implemented. Trump never really wanted to do these anyway because they would be apparent to consumers. (you should read the list of exclusions already granted to the list 4 tariffs--it reads like Bubba's Christmas list with all kinds of hunting and fishing exclusions.
)
Good for the President. Now get rid of the rest of them.

Will this cause Chinese ETFs to go up? I'm largely ignorant but invested in Chinese ETFs about 6 months ago and want to get out when it's an okay time to do so.

Punishing. First down vote a-hole.

It could.
I would also look at US companies that have had tariffs imposed on their inputs and/or their finished goods.

This is a victory for the US and Trump. You are here to make good things sound like shite, WTF.

4B would be noticed by consumers. Would be less than ideal in an election year.

What are you talking about??
It is great that the trade war seems to be winding down.
it has gone just about exactly as I have been saying---changes to IP and forced partnerships in China, more ag and commodity buying from the US (though really just a return to pre trade war) and better things in China for US banks and multinationals.

Are these the tariffs you said would tank the economy and cause double digit inflation?

Correct and I don't think they will happen.
All these Trumpkins here are big talkers--I wonder what their reactions to tariffs on truck nuts and Yetis raising cost 25% would be?

I said they would slow the economy and they did. We are now hoping for 1.5 and 2% growth when we had 3%+ growth. Those are huge numbers.

You got a link to that or are you going to admit you are pulling that out your arse? I said US consumers would be paying more for the same standard of living and they are. I said US consumers and manufacturers would be paying more for inputs than their foreign competitors and consumers in other countries and they are.

IB, they also rolled back some of the ones currently in place.
I posted on this earlier and there seems to be articles saying different things. I agree lay off the 15th ones, but they should not roll back those currently in place til the IP theft stops, no more promises for good behavior....show the good behavior.

A good company that I follow that has been severely punished by our government tariffs is Hooker Furniture. (HOFT)
They have a conservative balance sheet and own brands of furniture sold across all channels of furniture markets.
Their shareholders and employees owning stock lost over 1/2 of their investments simply because of the trade war. They have moved a lot of production out of China and they have always manufactured things in the US too. They were hit on finished goods made in China AND on inputs into their US products like finished furniture leather.
If all their tariffs disappear their earnings could easily go up 75%.

Then what's with all the fricking bitching about them?
Some of us for months have been telling you to wait for the end position and not to stress over points taken to get there.
SO what did we get out of not doing it? That would be something to bitch about but you seem to be happy without even asking that question.

You are so full of it. You were on here for months crying about the tarriffs talking shite about how the trade war was not winnable. Now, with the Chinese commies about to bend the knee you want to claim something else. BS.

What about the trinkets, man??? Will you be back in the trinket game soon?

tell me just exactly what you think the Chinese are bending their knee on that will help American workers?
I told you this was about helping US multinationals and US banks in China and IT IS.
I told you we really shouldn't expect much in the US--perhaps more commodity exports.
I told you they would do a deal and Trump would declare it a win and that is what is happening.
I told you what most posters here expected--millions of US jobs from manufacturing returning to America--was not going to happen and it isn't.
I told you it was foolish to have a trade war to get China the benefit of having more US investment in China and for Chinese companies to have better IP benefits and it is. IT IS what is happening.
It is AMAZING to me that some of you are so blind that you cannot see these things.
