Its tradition for all US attorney's to resign upon a new administration. (By US Attorney, referring to someone holding the job of US Attorney, not just a lawyer working for the DOJ) Not all those resignations are usually accepted to ensure an orderly transition.
When Trump took office, there were only 47 remaining US attorneys. (Trust) Sessions asked for all their resignations. Trump did not accept the resignations of Rosey Rosenstein or Dana Boente. All the rest left pretty quietly, except Preet Bahara, who acted a fool, drama queen. LINK
