Anyone else worried about him against NE this week? My options are limited as Goff is in a bye and streaming best option is Derek Carr.

Jimmy G would be another option and I know he has a good matchup thurs with the cards

Not at all. New England has not faced anyone like Lamar yet. I think he puts up solid numbers on the way to a Ravens W

Ability for his receivers to beat man coverage against the Pats D. Lamar’s ability to read complex coverages. Belichick taking away his running ability and forcing him to pass. I’m starting Lamar, but there are actual concerns. He hasn’t faced a high quality defense yet

He's been the QB2 and QB6 the past two weeks without throwing a TD and completing only 30 total passes.

quote:

Everyone is waiting to see how Bill Belichick approaches handling Jackson and his running ability. Greg Roman and mobile quarterbacks are no stranger to the Patriots. In four starts against New England under Roman, Tyrod Taylor had 25.9, 9.4, 16.6, and 18.1 fantasy points with 6.0 rushing points per game. In 2012 under Roman, Colin Kaepernick had 25.6 points with 28 yards rushing.

I mean, "taking away his running ability" is easier said than done. I think every team sets out to do that.

How good are the Patriots defense? We dont even know

Big Ben
Fitzpatrick
Luke Falk
Josh Allen/Barkley
Colt McCoy
Daniel Jones
Sam Darnold
Baker Mayfield

A who's who of terrible QBs

5 games vs bottom 5 offenses. Another vs a bottom 10 offense. The Bills are the best offense NE has faced and they are 19th in the league. Also a game Josh Allen left early and the Patriots couldve lost

Jackson is a different animal. The rush floor is a real thing

Yea they’ve played some bad QBs. It’s not guaranteed to go badly for him. But the Pats have the most talented defense he’s played and by far the best defensive schemer they’ve played against. It’s a legitimate concern, not a guarantee though

I get being a bit nervous vs the Pats defense. But, you aren't sitting a top 3 QB for some middling waiver wire nobodies.

Goff has a bye so it’s Jackson, Carr or jimmy G.

I’m leaning jimmy G

Jimmy G is the worst option. They're going to run the ball 100 times against Arizona.

I think it’s a fair assessment. There’s obviously some talent there but those QBs have made it pretty easy for that secondary and pass rush.

The Dolphins, Redskins, Jets, Giants will all be likely picking in the top 5 come April 2020. That’s 5 of their games.

The Browns have talent at the skill positions but one of the worst OL in the league, a skittish QB and a terrible coach. That’s all Bill needs to exploit a team

Hard to pull anything from week 1 vs out of shape Big Ben

Bills played them tough but bill owns them

Ravens are going to try and control the ball on the ground with Ingram and Jackson. I don’t expect much passing but could see jackson taking a few shots. I’d be more skeptical if it were in foxboro but I like his floor

I didn’t say sit Lamar Jackson. I’m saying the dude isn’t wrong to have concerns. His options suck so he doesn’t have a choice

Agree with this completely. To pretend there is no cause for worry is denial. The Pats have looked good, and Jackson is largely untested. It's not out of the realm of reason to sit him for an option with better circumstances.

A la, I am probably sitting him for Minshew in at least 2 leagues where I have them both. Might I regret it? Yeah, but I LOVE Minshew's matchup and he's already proven he can ball out in good situations.

So the Pats have looked good with that schedule but Jackson is the one untested

Listen, Jackson has 14 starts under his belt. The floor/ceiling has been established. He's now on pace for 1300 rush yards this season. The rush floor alleviates concerns.

We can pick apart everything and have a reason to play scared - for instance, you are starting a Minshew over Jackson, a Minshew who is a 55% passer over his last five games. That's terrible and always carries an inherent risk. But guess what? He's a very poor man's Jackson - poor passer but protects the football, pushes the ball down the field for chunk plays, and has an established floor thanks to rushing ability. He's had poor IRL games and good fantasy games.

Enter Lamar Jackson

The last two games Jackson has posted 30/53, 56% completion, 0 TD, 0 INT, 379 yards, 79 QB rating .... 31 and 23 fantasy point games.

Sometimes ya gotta just trust the tape, it doesn't lie.
