How many shows have been ruined by tertiary plot devices taking on the majority of focus.

I didn't sign on to watch "Ray Donovan: Father of Troubled Kids, Husband in a Troubled Marriage". It was sold a show about an enforcer/fix-it man who worked things his way. Those story lines made the show function best. Sure, the dysfunctional dad was good for understanding the character and giving some material to expand upon. I can't remember what season lost me, but the family drama and the lazy writing stereotype spoiled white girl gone bad daughter did it for me.

First episode is legit. You can stream it

No spoilers but they are getting back to basics

At the end of the episode you’ll see where this season is going. Very good.
