Highland Rd, on the ‘bad’ side of campus.. way down past where Taco Bell and Weinerschnitzel were (are?), and on the same side of the street.. prob about 1 or 1.5 mi from campus.

Across the street from The White Horse in the 1970's, which was next to Church's, I believe.

When the Bengal first opened (sometime in the 1950s?), bars had to be 1 mile away from campus. The Bengal was one mile up Highland Road from the North Gates of LSU, on the left. I think it is an auto parts store now.
Over the years or decades, the laws changed and bars were able to open closer to campus, such as Murphy's, and the Bengal was one of the furthest up Highland.
Also with time, the neighborhood behind the Bengal became less safe and business slumped.

Yes, the burgers were excellent.
