That’s all you need to know to understand why this game was close. Looking at just the stats one would think LSU won by at least 3 touchdowns.
The last two games our red zone offense has left a lot to be desired. Hopefully they get it fixed during the bye week.

I hated the 4th down pass on the goal line.

Agree. LSU was never threatened. The two TDs by Auburn we’re both gift flukes.

i think the play calling has changed. The dives into the middle on third and fourth and short made NO sense.

The offense had better play better on 11/9.

In my opinion, the play calling resulted in eating up the clock and giving LSU good field position if no points were scored, which worked out perfectly.

I hated that it wasn't passed into the end zone. Otherwise, I liked that we passed and who we passed it to. Very poor and unimaginative playcalling in that series. Not one throw into the end zone with the Heisman frontrunner and 2 of the top 10 WRs nationally in yards per game (along with a 3rd stud WR).

I like the play just not on 4th down. Should have called that on 2nd down

there's just no way Brady was calling those plays. The good thing, though, is Bama wont have anyone close to Brown.

You have to give credit to Auburn’s D also. Those cats were playing HARD.

Chiz was railing on this on SEC now. He said run it out of the spread and we score two more TDs. The Burrow QB draw is the perfect example.

I hated the consecutive running plays.

why not run play action since the d is waiting for those shorts rubs

another thing I noticed yesterday was alot if short throws. the offense was weird yesterday

That’s what Auburn was giving us.

Especially after rubbing it 3 times prior. Everyone knew where that pass was going.

I thought there was an interesting call on that drive. We had a 2nd and goal at the 2 that we passed up for a 1st and goal from the 4 due to an offsides penalty. I think you take the penalty there, but in hindsight we ended in a worse spot, albeit slightly.

Alabama’s offense won’t allow us to play this way. They are too good. I think we will be as wide open on offense against Bama as we have all year.

500 yard of offense should be 6 scoring opportunities - so, 21 points is almost the floor with 28 to 35 being typical.

Likewise, Auburn was practically gifted 10 of their 20 points. So, a much more likely result of the team stats would have been 35 to 10. That game, on the field, felt like a 35 to 10.

But, we also don't keep score by yardage, completion attempts or even turnovers.

That was also a very, very typical LSU-Auburn game where the "better" team played tight and the "worse" team played lights out, relatively speaking. That is the rule in this series, not the exception.

Great call. Wrong down. We should have had them spread all game and ran and passed outside all game then came back to see if north south runs would work. They sat in middle of field waiting for slants also. RPOS have to be thrown outside also in space. Let receivers block. No rb screens. A few rb swings worked tho. If anyone knows football and watched Ensmingers shite last year knows what was him and what wasnt. He is bad at adjusting. Always has been. Threw two deep balls. One a fade for a TD. Other bad throw picked off. Still no seams
To TE. The 4th doen early in game qb sneak was terrible. Auburn was stacking box. You audible out of that spread them out and do a quick outside throw or jet sweep. Or toss sweep. We make it easily. Stupid coaching to not force how out of that. You can run much better with them spread out. It was tight formation and we telegraphed the play.

As I said in game yesterday, SE needs to be quietly let go or at least demoted. He should not be calling the games.

The defense was squatting on short throws over middle all day! That’s why they didn’t work like before. We refuse to stretch them horizontally!!! You can do horizontal throws in space also with RPOS or without. Go back and watch game man. We only took two deep shots. Shoulda been more. If they were really sitting back playing cover 2 we shoulda picked them
Apart all game
Underneath but we didn’t because we refused to throw outside in space and adjust. We refuse to screen them with rbs. Stupid play calling from E all around.

We kept trying to bunch them up and run into their strength.

When we finally just started running all running plays out of the shotgun, even in the red zone, voila!

It is OK to line up in the spread on first and goal at the one. We need to take this approach going forward.

That was Auburn’s game plan. Force us to throw underneath to people not named Jefferson.
