Since this is a popular topic today figured I’d play along. I have history with this deer and believe I know how old he is. Just curious to see what others say.

That deer was conceived on December 5th, 2015 and born on June 23rd, 2016

His father was a 2.5 year old three point who was killed by a spotlighter

His good genes came from his mother who has birthed numerous bucks that had potential but were shot at 2.5 years old because the hunter “wanted to let him grow but those assholes on the lease next to him are brown and down so they would have shot him anyways”

I would have been going 4.5 maybe even 5.5 but it’s poor lighting and bad angle.
But I just found out today that it’s impossible to be able to determine a deers age with a photograph and anyone who tries is prolly stupid. So I’m gonna say somewhere between 1.5 and 12.5 which would be about top end on the lifespan of a wild buck, if it’s a pen take that top number to 16.5....

Yea, I learned that also. I mean you should be able to follow a deer through 4 years of pics. Every deer has scars and cut ears man, if it doesn’t he obviously must only be 1.5.
I laughed pretty hard at that post. Nobody is right 100% of the time, but the more you pay attention to the deer in your area the better idea you can get.

If most bucks peak at 5.5-6.5, then I would say this guy might actually be 6.5-7.5, given the shape his tines and main beams are in. We had one similiar to this killed on our property in Ga. that was 8.5 and scored in the 140's. At his peak he was said to have been a 160" plus, but lost alot of tine height in his last years.

When yall estimate a deers age are you mainly looking at the body of the deer? Antler size? Neck?

3.5. I hunt in a club that shoots only by age (4.5) and I would let that deer pass. With that being said we do end up killing many 5.5 year old deer per jaw bone aging. I’d rather let a deer walk if age is questionable, but we don’t have members killing everything they see where I hunt.

Bad Pic but you can see his belly dropping a little so he's probably 3.5/4.5 , doesn't look like he's ever going to amount to much so bust him.

He's daylighting which is the most important thing
