I have a couple old clawfoot bathtubs that I am going to use as outdoor soaker tubs. Both tubs are heavily stained and scratched. Refinishing estimates have ranged from $300 - $900 each Not gonna happen. I am considering painting with appliance paint. What say ye.

Saw this on Amazon, I am hesitant about trying it

I looked at that as well but it looks like the appliance paint got better reviews.

Hmm, did you get any quotes on having it sprayed w/car paint and clearcoat? I know the fancy tub refinishers use different materials, but a small body shop might be able to do a spray finish for not much money.

Get the Homax refinishing kit. You’ll need two boxes. Prep work sucks but it works great

Pier at Grand Isle facing the sunset. Feel free to send pics of candidates for adjacent tub.

Been looking for a 6' claw tub. People think they have gold. They just don't understand the cost to have one refinished.

I paid $325 to have mine redone. Not sure what prices you are seeing, but they don't cost much to refinish.

I’d invest my money in masks and respirators etc. I’d do the job myself.

These are cast iron tubs?

Ospho and rustoleum truck paint. Or their rust reforming paint.

I’d suggest evapo-rust too if the rust is not severe. Soaking a claw tub in evapo-rust is cost prohibitive. Lol

Naval jelly too? But like ospho, naval jelly is some nasty shite. So glove and gown up.
