Saints cannot trade him unless they do in the next nine days, which obvi will not happen. Please stop making threads about what we can get in return.

It blows my mind we are this far into the season and so many people still do not realize this.

If he goes to another team next season, will Saints get a good 2021 compensatory pic?

All depends on what other free agents we sign, but yes, Teddy may give us our first compensatory pick in a long time.

I still think we will keep him. Payton obviously loves him and he obviously works well with the team.

If this is Brees last year I think you keep Teddy and draft a QB as a backup plan. It’s not like we are really gonna pick up someone better in free agency.

Although the people who most need to absorb this will not, I still applaud the effort

Teddy will be starting for the Bengals, Broncos, Titans, Buccaneers or Redskins next year.

I think Teddy would stick around as a backup at 6-8 million for another year or two. He knows he can succeed here and he doesn’t strike me as the kind of player that just wants money.

the draft is too deep at qb this year.

no way teddy would beat out tannehill in tennessee.

tannehill kept that sorry miami organiztion afloat for several years.

i would actually like tannehill as a starter if marriota wins the job back.

should just draft a qb tbh. its deeper than ever this year.

Trading TB would be a monumentally stupid move. What if Brees re-injures his hand? Who would back him up with TB gone?

This all the way. If we put all of our hopes into the success of a rookie QB in Payton’s system, we will frick ourselves. Draft a QB that you can coach up for 2 or 3 seasons, then see if he has what it takes to be the next franchise QB.

Really should've locked him up for at least two years.

This board is known for trying to trade away unrestricted FAs all the time. Why would TB be any different?

teddy likes it here and payton wants teddy here so the way i see this could work is if they do a dual type contract.

what i mean by that is, sign teddy to a $100 mill long term 5 yr deal as a backup QB for $20 mill with a playing bonus where he gets bumped up to league average starting QB pay in the games that he starts in and that becomes permanent salary when drew retires or triggers a contract renegotiation

thats the way i see this working out because both teddy and payton want teddy here and the only issue is how to work out the compensation so its fair and affordable for everyone

If he does leave this would be the one year we may actually get a comp pic.

We have way too many FAs to actually spend big money on one.

Drew will come back next year. Teddy will be gone and we will draft a QB pretty high.

Yeah wish we could’ve had a 2 year deal. Sucks because he’s a hot commodity right now and we won’t get anything in return for him

The only way Teddy leaves is if the Saints don't want him anymore. He is young,Brees is at the end of his career. The Saints are a good team and offer the best chance for him to be successful. Leaving is the last thing on Teddy's mind.

I feel like Drew won't walk away. Won't want this type on season to be his last.
