I hope he doesn’t get that. We’ve all done dumb shite in college.
Not that dumb but... you get it.

The threat was obviously fake. The fallout is very real.
Croll is now facing felony charges in East Baton Rouge Parish for the “communication of false information of a planned bombing on school property at a school-supported function,” District Attorney Hillar C. Moore, III told Yahoo Sports.
The penalty if convicted? “Up to 20 years with or without hard labor,” Moore said. “It’s a serious charge.” Croll, after being brought from Tuscaloosa to Baton Rouge on Monday, posted a $100,000 bond and is currently free.
Moore said the investigation into all that happened is ongoing, both in Louisiana and Alabama. As news of the arrest and the comically stupid reason behind it made the news, reports ricocheted around the internet, giving plenty of people a laugh and another joke about just how crazy college football fans in general, and SEC fans in particular, can get.
For authorities though, the case hopefully serves as another reminder to fans that while passion for the team (or a bet) is great, there are clear and important limits to what is acceptable. “The LSU police were extremely well prepared and ready for it,” Moore said.
“They planned for it. And there was fairly quick work by the police in Alabama. But this is the kind of thing that can make people very nervous. What if they had to evacuate the stadium? Surely there’d be widespread panic. “How do you evacuate a stadium immediately when it takes hours to get everyone in there?” Moore continued. “There is no telling what kind of damage or danger that could come from that.”
I hope he doesn’t get that. We’ve all done dumb shite in college.

20 years seems a bit much

Yeah that dude shouldn’t do 20 years or anything close to it
He’s an idiot and should have to do community service for 30 years

I hate this position. How many 19 year olds are calling in bomb threats to sports venues? None outside of this guy, so obviously 19 years olds are old enough to know better.
Let it work its way through the court system.

Should have just dragged his nutsack across someone's forehead

He's a complete moron, but that's overly excessive.

I did some dumb stuff in college, but I grew up in a post-9/11 world, so I knew that calling in a bomb threat during a football game was way over the line.

He should have saved that for Bryant-Denny November 9th, they might need that....

i think some of y’all are downplaying how stupid that shite really is. 20 years might sound harsh but if you’re dumb enough to call in a bomb threat that’s completely on you
Posted on 10/17/19 at 5:35 pm to CheerWhine
That's a good point, Cheer. They may try to make an example of this kid so that other people don't try stupid shite like this in the future.

Stupid games, stupid prizes.

Isn’t a terroristic bomb threat a federal crime? Why are Hillar Moore and EBR police calling the shots?
He’ll get 3 to 5 years probation. No time.

I agree, Lunatik. Bomb threats are no joke and have to be taken seriously. I was at the game and had no idea it happened until afterwards, but he could have disrupted a major event with over 100,000 people. That can’t be excused.

The penalty should be enough to send a memorable message to young people nationwide but 20 years is a bit much. Make brains aren’t fully developed until 25. Add in alcohol and frat bros and dumb decisions get made. He never actually posed a threat to life but also could have caused a timely and expensive evacuation of Tiger Stadium. I hope there is some judicial balance in his sentence.

Probation, fines, and hours and hours of community service. That’s all he’ll get.

Require him to clean up Tiger Stadium after every home game for 8 seasons.
If he doesn't show. A week in jail for every game missed.

20 years is the max. He will likely get 10, possibly out in 5. I suspect he will still have to serve 2-3 years. They cannot let him off without serving time. A message must be sent.

Punk should pay - at least 2 months of jail time
