For years, it seemed like at least once a game we'd have a kickoff out of bounds, or we were just giving up way too many yards on kickoff coverage. Silently, and almost automatically, Atkins is a touchback machine. He has 51 touchbacks in 55 attempts so far this season. Along with our national leading offensive scoring, his touchbacks must lead the nation too. (not positive on that one) Kudos to you Mr. Consistency, Avery Atkins.

Kid is earning a full ride just kicking the piss out of a football with no pressure and walking back to the sideline

Pretty awesome

That was one of the first things that was reversed when Les got canned. I always hated how we kicked off. Now it's great to see that ball going past the end zone. Atkins has done a great job.

TBF, Les liked to be cute and have his guy kick it to the sideline and try to get the guy to come out where he would be cornered. And no matter how many times his guy kicked it out of bounds, he kept doing it.

This also doesn't even work anymore with the new fair catch inside the 20 rule.

I know he appreciates the kudos. This is a special team loaded with talented and motivated high-character young men. We are all witnessing what happens when each player focuses on doing their job consistently in a selfless manner to the best of their ability- Great things happen. Avery is just one player on a team filled with players who are working their butt off to “do their job”!
I can’t say enough about Coach O and all the coaches. We haven’t seen their best game yet but it’s coming!

I was noticing the Bama kicker couldn’t do this last night and I think it is a huge advantage for us
