Toilet not flushing right

I changed the flapper out in my toilet, and now there isnt enough pressure to make anything flush.when i flush it, the water will rise and sometimes slowly drain, or not flush at all. I tried to plunge it,and I ran an auger in it.
Any advice short of having someone come out to do it for me?

this doesnt make sense. there are 2 things here needed to make it flush
1. water level in tank has to be high enough so there is enough water for gravity to take effect
2. the path into the toliet should be open to allow the water to whoosh into it
so is the flapper different than before? is the chain not pulling it up and out of the way? when you say 'slowly drain' it can only be an issue with #1 or #2
is the flapper vertical/90 degrees/all the way up when you pull the handle?
if not have you tried shortening the chain connected to the handle so it will pull the flapper all the way up?
do you have a pic of the flushing in progress?

A friend on mine who's a plumber suggested I try this trick one time long ago when I had the same problem.
Flush the toilet so the bowl is empty of waste and just has water in it. Squirt a good bit of dish soap into the water in the bowl and then toss a few clumps of toilet paper into the bowl and let them sit until soaked.
Flush the toilet to see if the contents flush easily. I did that and it did work right and he told me that indicated the bowl may have a hairline crack in it somewhere and not allowing the flushing pressure to empty it.
Do you see any water around the bottom of the toilet on the outside? If so, you may have a bad wax seal and it's sucking air when it flushes.
I replaced my toilet and problem solved once I determined the wax seal was good.

I guess the real question is...did it work before you changed the flapper? If so...that's where your problem is. Give it a closer look, it's probably not letting enough water into the tank before it shuts off.

Did you change just the flap, or the water regulating piece also?

he didnt adjust the flapper chain so its not opening all the way and is half flushing
how hard is it to replace a flapper and set the chain at the same height as before??????????????

If you used one of those generic flappers..I have always had trouble with those. I ended up just replacing the gasket on the original flapper I had and it worked fine..

I used one of the universal ones. I measured out the chain to the same measurements and position when i originally did it. Replaced the whole gasket amd its working now

Your toilet vent may be partially obstructed.

Is the water level at the same height in the tank as before you changed the flapper?
