My Defensive analogy

Aranda is a top DC but our D is performing below expectations. We lost the best LB and CB in college football from last year’s team. Fulton is good but really not the great DB we were expecting. Stingley is our best DB but still learning. We have had injuries coupled with limited depth. We are also on the field much more because the Offense scores quickly. And we’re not blitzing as much for some reason. I expect Aranda will continue to improve our D. But I also think O is letting him know he better improve our D. Auburn will be a real indicator of what to expect in the month of November. I hope it’s positive for our team and Aranda’s sake because I really love them both.

I’m thinking this is the biggest factor. When a QB shows he can make perfect throws, you have to pressure him. Thankfully Aranda did that more in the second half.

LSU has played 6 Games:
Game 1 - Defense was incredible. Held Triple Option team to almost nothing
Game 2 - UT played at Austin. No shame in that
Game 3 - NW State scored on first 2 drives and never again
Game 4 - Vandy - Defense was decent. VU scored 2 non-offense TDs. They have a good runner that ran well
Game 5 - Utah State has a NFL level QB that did little. D played well
Game 6 - LSU beat UF by 14. UF played very well and D gave up some plays. Overall, not terrible and locked down at the end.
The criticism exceeds the reality. But, such is fandom

This is also a bad take. He gave up one big play vs Texas but has been money in the other 600 defensive snaps we’ve had.

Agreed, It is mind-bending seeing the Rant letting PERFECT be the enemy of TERRIFIC.

Fulton is very good but for whatever reason, maybe he just doesn't trust his technique or what but he does not turn his head down the field. His play on the ball is what limits his potential greatness. This is what made greedy so good and why stingley is so dangerous, his ability to turn and make a play

there aren't many athletes who can do this. it's a gift.

It's not what I would call a gift it's about staying in good position and watching the receivers eyes and hands. Lots of good corners can stay in position and smother receivers but to be truly "great" you have to be able to make plays on the ball is all I'm saying

Fulton has been great this year.

Stingley is our third best DB this year. He is not close to Fulton's level, and Fulton is not close to Delpit's level.
Delpit will be a top 10 pick this year. Fulton will probably go in the second or third round. Stingley will one day go higher than that, but he has problems at the moment. His technique needs serious work. Now that the film is out on Stingley good teams are going to abuse him, like Florida did, until he starts playing what he's practicing. Hopefully that was the wake up call that shows him the importance of technique.

Are you high? The only time stingley struggled was a few times he was asked to slot up against van Jefferson an NFL caliber redshirt Sr and when asked to cover Pitts who's size is a mismatch, this kid is 18 yrs old bro. He leads the team in picks and aside from some growing pains, shuts down his side of the field. Get out of here with this BS

and CB
Stopped reading there, but I'll still give my take.
Aranda wants to get pressure without blitzing and needs to get his head outta his arse. Clearly the defense was more effective when he started calling more aggressive attacking stunts and blitzes.

Please stop using this excuse when the defense is giving up tons of yards and points to start the game. They should have been plenty fresh then.
The time of possession advantage that Florida enjoyed is at least partly due to the defense allowing them to drive 75 yards several times in the game. Stop them on even one of those drives, and the TOP looks much better.

Delpit has not played like a first round pick this season. His tackling has been poor and he has had a couple easy interceptions that he failed to capitalize on. First round draft picks make plays when the opportunity is there and create other opportunities. He really hasn't done either this year. Last year, he was one of the best safeties in college football. Fulton has definitely not been great. Great is Mathieu, Peterson, Claiborne, etc. Fulton does not belong anywhere near those names. He has had his own struggles with catching and tackling. Fulton has had good moments and bad moments. The most consistent of the three has been Stingley, and that has been a consistent analysis by the people who get paid to analyze. You don't see Fulton or Delpit on mid-season "All American" lists or weekly "player of the week" lists. Stingley has held both honors.

I whole heartedly agree. I believe Coach A should be more agressive early to get the offense more possessions, then pehaps play bend don't break once we establish a 2 score + lead. That will allow the offense to transition into a methodical ball control style that will use clock and allow the defense to rest.

So where's the analogy?
