Duck, you need to head over to Rennlist.com and check out the Cayenne section.
They'll have quick answers for some of your questions.
They do hold value well, but I would see if you can get into a CPO car.
Base car, non-turbo, non-diesel would be the most practical answer.

While I prefer gas to diesel, the diesel is the way to go for longevity. They come with extra warranty as a result of dieselgate repercussions.
Additionally, the non-Turbo non, gas models had a design flaw in the transfer case that is a bit pricey if you have to do it out of warranty. Diesels didn't have the issue.
