Depends on what you mean by area. Aslin is like 45 minutes away. The Answer, Veil, Tired Hands, Triple Crossing, Burley Oak and Rar are all like 1.5 hours, but literally all in different directions. If staying in DC, best bet would be to just go to ChurchKey. One of the best and coolest beer bars in the US.

Bluejacket is a must - brewery
Churchkey is a must- tap house
City Tap house usually has a good tap list and the food is awesome
the sovereign is kick arse. got cantillon last time i was there. Also their reduced duck fat french onion soup is off the charts
3 star brewing is interesting. Female owned. Great burger.

DC is a great female beer presence btw

Aslin can be a pain in the arse to get to depending on where you are staying. Churchkey usually has a good Asin list.

Definitely second this place if you have the time.

In the city, Bluejacket is excellent. 3 Stars and Atlas is pretty good.

If you want some solid stuff to go, check out Rodmans (5100 Wisconsin Ave). It's a grocery store but has a killer beer selection.

Was just there, definitely agree with Bluejacket and Churchkey. Aslin wasn’t bad since they have a taproom in Alexandria. Took me about 20 minutes to Uber over but was totally worth it.
