Well - this past year my yard had not looked near as good. I honestly wonder if they have been treating it the same as they had the 1st year.
Last week they emailed me a survey form, and I was pretty honest with my opinion. Apparently it struck a nerve with them. Someone came out to my house to evaluate my yard. Spoke on the phone while he was at the yard looking at it, he basically recommended I do about $500 worth of work to it in the spring (dethatching, aerating, putting on a top layer of compost, etc) it just really rubbed me the wrong way that I've already expressed my concern about lack of results and now you want me to spend another $500 with you? I think I'm getting ready to drop them and start handling it myself again
This was my experience with them exactly -- only we approved the aerating, etc. There was a slight improvement in getting the grass "greener" but I believe it was mostly because I started using the watering system more. The guys that came onsite to do the spraying were yahoos and we had no fewer weeds when I fired them.

I agree with you about the yahoo part. There never seems to be any consistency on who they send out, a different person each time. The few that I have been able to chat with about my lawn (current issues, problem areas, etc) seem to have little to no knowledge lawn of maintenance. With the amount of money I'm spending annually I know that I can do a better job myself.
