Rocky 4 had the GOAT montage because it had a montage where he was reminiscing about other montages. It was like Inception but with 80's montages!

Rocky 4 is the GOAT because it was just so frickin MURICA and won us the cold war IRL.
3 was magnificent because it was so kickass 80s and was the only time Adrian didn't suck.
1 had a great underdog story and was just great 70s character study.
The final act of 2 was glorious, possibly the best final fight of the series but it needed to edit out like 15 minutes of Adrian's hospital/pregnancy story. That shite is a real kick in the pants on rewatch.
