I started a thread asking if he could be the best CB in the country this year. Its not looking that unlikely anymore.

He is WAAAAYYYYY ahead of where Peterson was as a true freshman.
Not physically. PP7 was every bit as fast and was a grown arse man as a freshmen. The first play I saw him make I remember thinking - holy shite, Ali Highsmith got huge.

At this stage, he's definitely ahead of where Patrick Peterson was.
He’s accomplished more, sure. But physically Peterson was making open field tackles on Tebow that linebackers couldn’t make.

I loved watching PP7 return kickoffs. So big fast and powerful. He was like an explosion.
I can’t really think of anybody else that looked like that returning kicks.

If he’s allowed to shadow I think it’ll be back and forth. Jeudy’s routes are so advanced I think he’ll get eh best of stingley a couple of times but stingley’s mirroring skills are special that I think he’ll be able to limit Jeudy to less than 70 yards Ik it’s bold but stingley is special enough

Kevin Faulk, Charles Alexander, Jerry Stovall, Billy Cannon and our "all world" players at other positions like Tommy Casanova, Glenn Dorsey, Kevin Mawae and even Peterson teammate Tyrann Mathieu.
Of these, Canon and Mathieu are the only ones in the same zip code as PP7. But you’re right, there is no consensus.

Screw surtain. He can go take a flying frick at a rolling doughnut. Sting didn't lead us on. Has great upbringing. Doesn't have to talk shite and does his talking by his play.

quote:No doubt but he still had some flaws in his technique to iron out. DS always seems to be in position due to his technique. The physical aspects will come as he continues to grow.

I've said this before. By the Bama game Stingley will be one of the best corners in the country.

He's been really good, but can we wait to see how he performs against Florida, Auburn and Alabama receivers before we crown him an all-time great?

quote:Sure. But so far as a true freshman, he's performed better than most do at year 3.

Texas has better receivers than Florida and damn sure auburn so idk what your trying to say let’s not act like stingley hasn’t faced competition

great stuff. He's not PP7 level yet though. The future is bright.
He's already better

Faulk is the greatest "all purpose" player in SEC history. Casanova was a three time All American and played both ways in the late 60s/early 70s.

If you want a premier WR shut down - Collin Johnson, pretty sure he didn't allow him a single catch when he was guarding him, and almost ripped one away for an INT from him.
He did great against Collin Johnson. Collin Johnson is not a premier receiver like Julio Jones was. He did poorly against Vandy until he got his interception. If you doubt that go rewatch. Vandy beat him several times one on one, at least one to extend a drive. Another time a Vandy ball carrier absolutely abused him. Stingley eventually got him to the ground about 15 yards after he should have.
As I said, I’m thrilled with Stingley. But if Grant Delpit or Fulton had the game against Vandy that Stingley had (minus the interception, which was great) you guys would be dogging them.
