So 3 weeks ago my awesome old man passed away. Well, like many people, things were forgotten to be updated in the will.

My dad was an amateur race car driver when he was a young man and had a 1963 MGA that he loved (probably more than us ). He sent it somewhere to get something repaired on it and voila - he died and we have no idea where the car is. No receipts, nothing on his phone nor in his emails. I did happen to come across the title so more than likely he didn't sell it.

Any suggestions on what else we could try to locate these wheels? Any ideas would be welcomed TIA

Edit: If you want to buy the MG, have at it

Cell phone records-line by line.

Be careful though...you may accidentally find out about his side piece

2-3 months ago. It was in one of his tenants garages b/c his garage was full of sheet. He told the tenant that a flatbed was coming to pick it up so to please be available.

@ the other poster - here in Houston.

Do you have any idea who might have shipped it? Had he used a certain tow company?

They would know where they took it. He had to pay for the tow, hopefully it wasnt in cash.

Good luck and sorry for your loss.

Wonder if you can report a car as lost instead of stolen, go check with the cops to see what they can do since you have the title.

Maybe see if there is a big MG forum for MGAs, they would know the best places to get one fixed up and likely places it could be sent if he was having major work done.

Maybe go to his local newspaper or TV station. They may do a human interest story about it.

Call the state and see if anyone has started paperwork on storage. 45 days after storage is started (through the state), a garage can apply for the title. 1st, 2nd and 3rd notices must be sent out during that time. Notices are sent to titled/registered owner at address on title/registration.

Thanks dood, he was a good guy.

That's the thing, he was already a secretive guy anyway so combing through his records haven't revealed squat. He did re-up his insurance on the car though in late July.

Bruh, this is one of those thoughts that pop into your head and should just be chalked up to “Haha, nah, that’s frickin stupid.”

They don't know unfortunately. Just said it was a tow truck.

Still combing over his work emails so maybe he arrange it through there. Who knows.

To the other poster - was also thinking of putting a BOLO out with the police. If we report it stolen then that puts the garage in a mess b/c it wasn't actually stolen
