I wonder if Lorsban will kill them? I spray it around my house outside and it keeps all bugs out of my house. It’s so strong I can open my door at night and mosquitoes won’t even hardly fly in the door if I spray around the doorframe

They aren’t that hard to kill. Yes it’s a bed bug OP. Call a pest control company, it’s not something you want to mess around with.
When I was doing some social work out of college I had a client that picked up a mattress on the side of the road. It had bed bugs. Him and his wife would buy a can of the bed bug spray every pay day for a couple of months. It apparently mostly killed them for a week or so then by the second week they’d get bad again. We finally found out and help him. But that was one of the grossest things I’ve seen.

There's tons of products that'll kill them. The hard part is getting all the eggs, which can be difficult to see. These things are prolific breeders.

Good friend of mine used to work as an exterminator. His thing was with these things you may as well burn the house down.

I own a pest control company, we specialize in bed bug eradication. A good pest control service can get rid of them rather easily. We offer both chemical and heat treatment, both are effective, but if you can afford it find a company that offers heat treatment...it's much faster.

It’s a bed bug
If you’re at a hotel do NOT take your suitcases and clothes home with you
If it’s at your house
Sell the house and move

That's good to hear. I've known several people this happened to. They were able to get rid of the problem, but they had serious psychological issues afterwards. I have a friend that remains extremely paranoid even after a couple years have passed.

What? Like you can’t rest peacefully?

Correct...she's always on edge everywhere she goes. She'll never stay in a hotel again. That's how she got them initially.
When you're getting bit every night, it's hard to sleep. She said she would wake up every night to "fight off" the bugs. Her mind just wouldn't allow her to sleep comfortably.

Looks like a tic. If the wound is draining as you say, you shouldn’t waste any time getting to a doctor. Seriously!!!

That looks like a tick maybe? Hard to tell since you photographed a small bug from as far away as possible.

Is the government doing anything to help eradicate this problem?

Not that I'm aware of, bed bugs aren't vector insects (there is no scientific evidence that they transmit disease), they're psychological terrorists.
Since they aren't known as vector insects the government isn't likely to get involved.
However, DHS has adopted a new policy in regard to bed bugs, they are paying for pest control service for some individuals instead of removing the children from the home. It's cheaper and less traumatic for the kids.

That's good to hear. It just seems like it's a big issue and it's odd to me that the govt doesn't get involved. These things are causing havoc for hotels and airbnbs.
Is business booming for you?

When my daughter was in 6th grade the school took a group on a field trip to St. Augustine where the kids stayed at a Hilton hotel, she brought them home on her luggage. She started getting bitten at night and showed me the bite marks and brought me on of the bedbugs which I immediately identified.
I had a regualar pest control company come out and treat her room. The bedbugs laughed at any poison they threw at them.
I finally learned that only heat remediation treatment will get rid of them. I located and called this company in Panama City, FL EnSec. I had them treat 3 bedrooms on the split floor plan house. When the room temp hit 114 degrees the guy took me in the room where I watched thousands of dying bedbugs falling out of her wicker headboard. I was freaking amazed.
I thought by treating that side of the house and $3,750 later they would be gone. Before the treatment we moved my daughter to the master bedroom to sleep until the problem was resolved, she had brought a wicker landry basket to the MBR side of the house.
I freaked when the bedbug biting started back up. I called the same company back to treat that side of the house. Another $2,100 and the problem was gone for good.
I'm just telling you my nightmare for your own good. I traveled a lot back then and would NEVER put any luggage near a headboard of a bed or never on the floor. Luggage stays on hardwood furniture on the TV side of hotel rooms! First couple of trips, I was so paranoid, I stopped at a local walk in pay laundry and heated up all of my clothes in a commercial dryer before I would take them home. If you watch airport luggage pickup coveyers with luggage wrapped in plastic bags and taped - now you know why!
I also informed the Hilton they had bedbugs in thier hotel. I also check this site before I book hotels anywhere! BEDBUG REGISTRY
That shite will never happen to me again, I can tell you that.

My pest guy said to be careful buying any used furniture. He said people think about clothes and sheets. But not the nightstand you picked up for a great price.

The heat remediation company I used; the guy said those bastards can live up to 18 months without a host. I move my vehicle to the other lane when I see someone has thrown a mattress or couch on the side of the road.
