‘Hogan’s Heroes’ Sequel Series In the Works From Al Ruddy, Village Roadshow & Rough House Pictures
quote:
The reimagined version will be a single-camera action adventure comedy series set in present day focusing on the descendants of the original heroes, now scattered around the world, who team up for a global treasure hunt.
Ruddy will executive produce with Rough House Pictures principals Danny McBride, David Gordon Green and Jody Hill and the company’s president of production Brandon James.

If they're going to sequel this, I'm all for the American/Brit/French and possibly German descendants going on the hunt for lost Nazi gold.
But having Danny McBride attached gives me worries.

I really like the original series. As most here are already aware, Werner Klemperer and John Banner both fought in the U.S military in WWII.
But really stunned me was to discover that Robert Clary spent years in a German concentration camp and filmed Hogan's Heros with a concentration camp number tattooed on his arm. The Germans wiped out his family. Filming a comedy, set in those times must have been difficult for him.
I'd probably watch the sequel.

No. Just... no. I see this as being the bastard child of the unholy union of a really bad ScyFy series and the "Limu Emu & Doug" commercials.

Having grown up on the original show I just don't see how this will work in this generation. WWII had ended only 20 years earlier to the start of this series and most of the people that watched this showed either lived during those times or served during those times and has a very unique perspective as viewers.
This show made the Nazi's look like a bunch of bumbling idiots while the Allies were so sophisticated in their intelligence and cleverness...people nowadays can't take a joke for a joke.
Then there is the SJW aspect. Who's going to fill all of those obligatory roles that will undoubtedly be required to fill?
I think it's going to be an epic failure.

You didn't read my post or the article. It's not set in WWII. It's the descendants of the original characters, today. No prison camp, no Nazis.

My bad...It's still won't work but thanks for the correction. I did overlook

This sounds like hot garbage.
I wonder if Col. Hogan's offspring will mention what a kinky freak their old man was.

As a huge fan of the original series it could be interesting...
But most likely won’t be any good at all.
