Finding the IOS apps are way better

I went from a S5 to a XS Max, so that might be it.

Won’t say they suck arse, but they’re definitely not worth all the fanboy adoration they get. They’re good phones, they work, and they are well made/designed... they’ve also focused more on form rather than function, and have allowed themselves to fall behind the cutting edge that most techies crave.
The windows phone was the best phone I’ve ever owned. That thing had the best OS with features years ahead of other phones - some that still, five years later, aren’t available on iPhone.
But I had to switch. Why? Because where iPhone excels is their ecosystem. If some bank, restaurant, game system, airline, or whatever else you can imagine, if they’re going to make an app then it’s going to be on iPhone first and it’s going to work best with the most bells and whistles on iPhone. I’m not an Apple fan, but I use their phone because of their ecosystem and their third party support/associations. Android is catching up, but they’re still not quite up to the level Apple is at.
Damn I wish windows phone could have made it.

Are they available on Android?

True but you sacrifice things like custom layouts for more refined apps

Bingo. Also sorry for your loss. At least you can see for your own eyes how mediocre iPhones are these days.
