Well considering that they sent top national players and making it a priority. I mean the US media hardly mentions it. As I said earlier in month this is the bigger tournament by the way FIBA runs it and how FIBA wants it.
The Olympics is bigger for US but not rest of the world.

FIBA is trying to make the World Cup bigger than the Olympics and as big as soccer. FIBA world cup still ranks fourth in importance behind the NBA, Eurobasket. And the Olympics. FIBA has played hard ball with Eurobasket and the NBA, by not working with those league's schedules (having qualifiers in season) at the expense of not having the best players commit. FIBA truly thinks it is a more important organization than the NBA and Eurobasket
