I took a bunch of B & W photos of that even and have them around my house somewhere. We were promised an air show, but got nothing but a flyover by some T-28's and T-6's. Does anybody remember when you could rent out the Kidd (and Samuel Clemens) for parties? Went to several on both.

Our 8th grade end of year party was on the Samuel Clemens.

I didn't get to see the Kidd arrive but I was at one of the first reenactments they did. They had a fully-automatic anti aircraft machine gun down on the river bank shooting up at old planes flying over. All while The kidd was firing her big guns.

That. Was. Amazing to a kid or anyone there that day. Doubt they do this shite now much less let 8 yr old kids stand 100 feet away on the levee behind the gunner.

That is the Samuel Clemons escorting it. What the hell happened to it? Did they sink it?
