I got into following recruiting late in my fandom. I didn’t really bother paying attention to it until the whole 5 for 5 thing in 2013.

So what are your most fun favorites and what is their story?

Leonard Fournettes was wild. 4 years. Thank god for Frank Wilson’s.

Jamal Adams was fun. I remember watching Jamal cover Malachi Dupre at a camp and I told a buddy he was going to be a pain in the arse. Joke Phillips is either Jamal’s godfather or uncle but at the time he was on Florida’s staff and everyone thought Jamal was UF bound. Then Hootie spurned LSU and it felt like LSU was losing Monroe completely and out of left field Les goes and lands Jamal Adams (with a ton of help from Ed Paris).

Another fun one was Klavon. Kid started playing football at an LSU camp between his sophomore and junior year. He was on a visit with Eric Monroe in basketball shoes and O asked him to run some drills. Before you know if he had 4 sacks in the army game, he was ranked #11 in the country and it was down to us and Texas. With a lot of help from Kary Vincent we landed him.

Devin White was fun to watch on the outside knowing that he was going to LSU. I remember him tweeting about Ole Miss when he was on a visit and dudes on here were complaining about how he should just commit to Ole Miss already and get it over with so we stopped wasting time on him. Grown men melting over a tweet.

For all the good there’s always bad ones. Gunner Kiel, Surtain, Moses, Joe McKnight and Landon Collins stick out to me.

5 for 5 never really bothered me. Going into it i told everyone I was watching with that I only cared about 1 player and that was Leonard. Obviously Jamal was an animal foo but Jamal developed. I knew what Leonard was. Tony always looked like a track star trying to play football and I had heard some stories about Speedy and Gerald that led me to believe they weren’t gonna finish college wherever they started.

Stingley!1 --- and it's going to be more fun watching him move to stardom I casually knew his uncle or great uncle when I lived in Chicago - great family, owned some McDonald's up there - and those values shown throughout his recruitment

Cecil Collins.

We already had Faulk & Mealey rolling along, with depth behind them.

Reporter: “So Cecil, why would you choose LSU with Faulk & Mealey already entrenched as starters at RB for the next few seasons?”

Collins: “Because I’m better than ALL of them.”

Harvey Williams

Fools in TX bragging and gloating that Harvey is about to be an Aggie. Word gets back to Harvey about all the Aggie talk, and it just pisses him off to no end. So he decides to flip to LSU on NSD instead.

One of my favorites was Deondre Clark because I'm an Okie. I saw how badly the in state schools were pushing for him yet he never wavered even though he would have started day 1 for OU or OKST.

Wish he'd have been more than a serviceable backup but he was still one of my favorites.

Derrick Stingley. Committed early, stayed committed, wasn't after the spotlight. Enrolled early.

Tons of respect for this kid.

Delpit, followed him since the summer before his junior season in Texas. Always knew he was under rated by the way he found the ball and laid the wood even at 165lbs! Reminded me of Laron Landry, but he is definitely a more dynamic player.

I am a little older . Watching Garry James at West Jeff kicking arse and taking names was so unbelievable. Kid was all world. Then we sign some kid named Dalton Hilliard from,Patterson that goes into camp and beats James out for first string RB. Then Hilliard goes on to a much better Pro career.

A national recruit who could have gone anywhere in the country and chose LSU.

The whole 2001 class. That was saban’s first full recruiting class and signed Michael Clayton, Marcus Spears, Ben Wilkerson, Andrew withworth, Joseph Addai, and marquis hill. These players who would go to Miami, Florida, and Florida state picked to go to LSU. After the down years of dinardo this was Christmas for me.
