You mean like a little plastic film that literally every ice cream except blue bell already has?

At some point it’s on Blue Bell for being too cheap to put a thin piece of plastic over their product to keep it from being tampered with.

Not following the logic here. Are you suggesting that people willing to remove the tops of ice cream in a store in order to lick it would stop at removing the thin film underneath the top in order to do the same? Or are you suggesting that if they DID get stymied by the thin film that they'd lick that, but that would be ok because who would not still want to buy ice cream that someone has licked the thin film of plastic that rests directly on top of the ice cream?

Kind of seems like Blue Bell is the victim here...and you're doing some victim blaming. "If only Blue Bell hadn't dressed like that..."

Because if someone opened the ice cream, and the film was compromised, they wouldn't eat it

The reason the lickers are doing it with blue bell is because the buyer has no way of being able to tell

No - I’m saying it would be easier to tell if someone peeled back the plastic to tamper with the product.

This isn’t new or unreasonable - try to find something other than Blue Bell ice cream at the grocery store that doesn’t have some kind of protective seal.

We should publicly cane these people like they do in Singapore. We won't even have to put them in jail to prevent future incidents.

That should've been there in the first place?

Even ultra liberal Ben and Jerry's has a seal.

As soon as BlueBell loses enough money, they'll change the process and add a seal.

It's a damned shame that we even have to be concerned with that.

The incident happened Monday night at a Walmart in Port Arthur. Authorities say store surveillance cameras show the man finally take the Blue Bell ice cream out of the freezer and buy it, which isn't captured in the social media video.

Jefferson County District Attorney Bob Wortham told KFDM-TV the store was forced to dump its Blue Bell ice cream at considerable cost.

Did they dump it before looking at the video? that's stupid.

Yea I was thinking that, but if you wanted to lick the ice cream, wouldn't you just rip the film up and do it anyway? I don't know if that solves the problem but I have wondered why BB doesn't have even that

They should beat him until he pees on himself, on pay-per-view. The proceeds could help the store recover costs, since he is probably unable to pay restitution.

I’m an advocate of this.
