What is draining my mower's battery?

Back during the spring, I was having electrical issues with my mower starting. I replaced the battery, but it didn't solve the problem. I ended up getting it repaired at the shop, where they "solved" the problem by replacing the solenoid. I got it home, cranked it, mowed my yard. Next time I get ready to mow, my battery is completely dead. I jumped it off and mowed until the battery was so dead that it wouldn't even engage the blades with the PTO. I went to Autozone (90 day warranty) and got a new battery. I've now been through four batteries this summer, and it's basically been a repeat of the above scenario each time. Any idea what continues to drain to completely dead my brand new batteries?
No, I'm not leaving the key on.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery when not in use?

That spineless, shitty neighbor of yours is stealing the juice at night. Set a trap and catch him!

Sounds like the gizmo isn't charging your battery when the mower is running.

Electric powered mowers are for women and little men

So the PTO is draining the battery while running?

Robertson coach has been stealing it overnight to get his lawn care business off the ground.

test the alternator
check wiring very carefully
look at youtube for eliminating common parasitic draws
usually corroded connector somewhere or bad regulator which caused an open

Bad magneto (like alternator on a small engine) not keeping battery charged. Probably getting enough juice to run mower but you need 7-9 volts to keep PTO open. You can crank and run with about 7 but not strong enough to run PTO

Half the people in this thread think the mower is fully electric.
Half think its gas with electric start

quote:No. The magneto provides hi voltage for ignition. The magneto does not charge the battery. The stator ring provides amperage to change battery. Kind of like an alternator.
Bad magneto....
