If you don't know, Steve Rinella owns/hosts MeatEater which is a great outdoors show that's on Netflix and a few other places. It's the best show I've seen and he has a true appreciation for the techniques, land, and animals. He just launched a new show called "Das Boat" on Youtube. First episode is redfishing with Townes Van Zandts son. Check it out! Das Boat

I like Rinella a lot, but he wants to be a Lefty so bad, though the things he likes are despised by the Modern Left.

Das Boat was pretty awesome though in the 1st episode.

What the hell does that even mean? Seems contradictory... must suck to have to think about politics when watching shows about fishing and hunting

Yeah the concept seems cool, dont think they are stopping in LA though, apparently everyone that he fishes with gets to make one mod to the boat

What exactly leads you to believe this?

LA is the only state he has never been to.

There's two he hasn't been to from what I remember, Louisiana is one of them.

The series is in GA, FL, and TX. I bet they got some incentive to film there.

I love Steve but I feel like he has something against Louisiana.

Van Zandt seems like he'd burn one with you.

Are you being vague on purpose, or do you really not have any specific reasons?

Or is it that you just think anyone in the hunting industry who is thoughtful and well-spoken is left-leaning?

He's been to Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, Delaware, New Hampshire, etc? I feel like there has to be more states that Meateater hasn't gone to than one's that it has.

But let's be honest here, with the exception of fishing (which Texas and other states can surely argue that they are at least as good, if not better), Louisiana doesn't exactly offer many amazing opportunities that can't be had elsewhere. We are the Sportsman's Paradise because of the abundance of things you can do--not because any of them are the best that can be had anywhere. That used to be duck hunting, but not anymore.

I would love for him to come here, but honestly, what incentive is there? How many major hunting shows come here, PERIOD? I know Bone Collector had a brief 10 minutes on one episode in Louisiana, but who else has?

ETA: Rinella does love him some Tony Chachere's, so I'd hardly say he has something against Louisiana...lol!

If you understand his stance on public lands, his lobbying efforts relative thereto, his thoughts on any number of political topics, including but not limited to, our current president, you’d understand what I’m saying.

He’s left of center which puts him in association with a party that is way left of him and that would not accept him.

You think his a MAGA conservative? What are you basing your opinion upon?

You mean that we should keep them? The same stance that Randy Newberg, The Hunting Public (Midwestern Boys!), Remi Warren, and many other western hunting personalities have? I mean, you do realize that 60-70% of all hunters in the western US do so on public land, right? Wanting to keep it public doesn't make you a liberal.

I don't believe that at all, but that doesn't make him a liberal either. Hell, Randy Newberg has mentioned several times that he was heavily involved in the Republican Party in Montana until he got pushed out.

I'm not a MAGA conservative, but I'm still a conservative on most issues. Guns being one of them (which are pretty important to hunting). But I also believe we should keep our public lands in public hands. That is a uniquely American concept that should be celebrated, not sold off to the highest bidder.

As much as he talks about environmental issues coming to LA should be a no brainier. Go do a cast and blast and then talk about coastal erosion and the river.

I mean hell he had a 2 hour podcast about the Everglades area.

He’s a thinking man’s conservationist. He approaches everything through that lens.

The stuff that aligns you with “conservatives” is likely not on his radar. He cares about protecting game and public lands fir future generations. Modern Republicans could care less.

I’ll take his approach over these MAGA idiots any day.

I appreciate your perspective and we will have to agree to disagree about his place in the political landscape. He’s a man without a party...we all are probably as well.

Getting back to the topic I hijacked (apologies), Das Boat is really good.

I love how blunt the fabrication guy was about fixing the boat.

"Nope, gotta rip those out"

The conversation about the tribes felt very forced to me.
